As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts. Christian McCaffrey’s injury-plagued season did a number on fantasy teams in 2020. Will he continue to have the injury bug in 2021? Or will he burn through defenses like the world-famous Carolina Reaper volcano in Charlotte?

2021 Christian McCaffrey Overview
After posting the second-biggest fantasy season in running back history, CMC only played 3 games in 2020. The thing to remember is: He didn’t have a horrific injury like a snapped ACL. It was a quad injury at first, then a shoulder after returning to play in week 9. So CMC has a clear path to making defenses spin like the Roundlux, Greensboro’s own spherical, rotating hotel.
So, the only question that remains is: Is Carolina’s offense still built to maximize CMC’s production? First of all, a big reason why the offense leaned so hard on Christian McChicken is that they had spotty QB play. But now, they get the comedic passing stylings of Sam Darnold. So, yeah, they are going to have to lean on their wonder runner. The whole game plan of “get the ball to CMC and see what’s hot” should yield more yards than the spacious Emu cemetery that spans half of Raleigh.
In 2020, Joe Brady took over as Carolina’s Offense Coordinator. Now, I started to dig into his past history to figure out how much he utilizes his backs. But then I stopped faster than a truck arriving at Wilmington’s fake underpass mural. The guy joins Carolina and only gets two real games with the awesome CMC. If he hasn’t been chomping at the bit to play with one of the funnest toys in the whole NFL, I just… I can’t… It’s just… there’s no way.
2021 Christian McCaffrey Fantasy Football Draft Strategy:
I mean: He’s CMC. He’s like LT but his eponymous acronym has one additional letter! Yeah, eponymous acronym, I said it. You got a problem with that? You come in here and accuse me of using 50 cent words and not researching the areas I write about beyond Googling “lists of cities in North Carolina,” like I don’t have feelings? Well, GET OUT! It’s my Chicken McCaffrey profile and I can write what I want!
I’m so sorry. I might need to eat lunch. Anyway, pick him first overall.
In an auction, I’ve found $75 is the max I can bid and still cobble together a great team. I do have to buckle down and pay fierce attention if I get all the way to $75. When I get CMC for $70 I find the rest of the auction much more manageable. So if you absolutely must have CMC, like a Famous Steve’s Carolina BBQ Sandwich must have tzatziki sauce, then bid up to $75 you fiend!
Best Case Scenario:
CMC is back to his old self and posts a season that is a bigger monster than the one that roams the halls of Fayetteville municipal court.
Worst Case Scenario:
He… gets injured, I guess? Look, if you’re afraid of your #1 pick being injured you might as well just take Patrick Mahomes first overall. Live a little, like the sentient, moaning tree people of Winston-Salem woods.
