2021 Dallas Goedert Fantasy Football Player Profile

As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts. A leg injury derailed Philadelphia’s 2019 2020 plans for Dallas Goedert, but can you tab him as a late tight end who will return major upside in 2020 2021?

I would kill the president if it meant Dallas Goedert would finish as a top 5 tight end in 2021.

Now, I did not say which president. It could be a lot of people. I’m president of the local elementary school PTA, so maybe I mean I would sacrifice myself for Dallas Goedert’s fantasy value. So, don’t bother me Secret Service, okay? I’ve got enough problems.

What’s that? That’s right: of an elementary school. Why do you ask?

Longer than nearly anyone, I have been beating my drum over Dallas Goedert (editor’s note: Phrasing. Yet again). Watching him in 2019, there was just something different about his receiving style. Kind of Gronk-like, except Gronk, would get open using his body, Goedert gets open by using his limbs. The 6-foot-5 pass-catcher runs a faster 40-yard-dash than the average LB covering him. It shows: he was consistently open.

So I championed him in the offseason. I planted my flag in him harder than any other player (editor’s note: you’re killing me, here.) I even set a recommended auction value for him that was higher than anyone else in the industry. Now, this value was $2 but my point stands.

Week 1, it looked like it would all pay off: Goedert erupted for 8 catches, 101 yards, and a score. I coasted my victory laps for a week.

Then he tweaked something and was never quite the same again. It didn’t help that the QB spot got taken over by a player greener than Swoop’s poop.

Now, Jalen Hurts has some experience under his belt, some new weapons, and a rested and healthy Goedert. I’m going to try this one more time and if it fails again so help me GOD!

Goedert has one of the biggest discrepancies among snake draft and auction, in terms of the advice I give. In an auction, if you believe, go up to $5. It’s so little! You’ll probably get him for $2. However, $2-$5 doesn’t quite convert to the 7th round, which is one-two rounds higher than his current ADP. If he falls to the 8th: Yeah, grab him. But if he goes a round sooner, just get two late tight ends with a high upside. That’s better than sitting there all year, brooding because you read my article and reached for Goedert in snake drafts. Polishing your guns and marking the calendar for my speaking date at the Washington Hilton hotel, hoping against hope it causes Jodie Foster to fall in love with you.

Again, I could be talking about any president, really.

Best Case Scenario:

Goedert enters the pantheon of top tight ends that provide a significant advantage at the position.

Worst Case Scenario:

Goedert breaks down and breaks my heart. I will learn to love foolishly, again.
