You may have noticed A.I. is getting quite good at giving fantasy football superflex auction draft strategy advice. THIS IS BECAUSE IT IS JUST STEALING ALL ITS INFO FROM MY ARTICLES!
Last year, I invented a tool for helping determine a player’s fantasy football consistency. When I excitedly told my 6th-grade class during math time, someone asked, “why didn’t you just use A.I?” I explained how A.I. just scrapes info from people posting on the Internet, and since I hadn’t invented the tool, it would return a bunch of generic nonsense. We tried it out, and it did.
A week later, we tried it again. It explained all about the tool I had made, gave credit to me and this site, but GOT THE METHODS COMPLETELY WRONG.
A week later it got all the methods completely right, but was no longer citing me or Football Absurdity.
When it’s wrong, A.I. blames the expert. When it’s right, it acts like it did it all on its own. Maybe A.I. really does fit in with the average fantasy football fan.
So, thanks for coming to a human for 2026 fantasy football auction draft strategy. You would’ve gotten the same advice either way, but now you get it with a side of me ranting about A.I. being hilariously lazy. On to the guide!
2026 Fantasy Football Superflex Auction Draft Strategy
Step One: Draft 2 Starting QBs for $50-$60 Total
A Superflex slot means, “start a QB, here, always.” They score higher and are more consistent than the other positions.
Before I explain the data behind my advice, let me get this out of the way: If your leaguemates aren’t respecting the supreme value increase at the QB position, if they are bidding about the same as for a 1-QB auction, get the top two QBs and close this article. You have now won your league.
What do I mean by “supreme value increase?” Let me show you the numbers. These are the projected auction values for a 2-QB mock auction on Sleeper:
Note how these prices are almost twice as much as for a one-QB auction.
Why am I saying to spend $50-60 on two mid-range QBs? Let me show you some visuals. Here is a graph of those prices:
Notice the consistent downward slope; this will be critical in a few moments.
Now, check out the projected fantasy points, as obtained from Fantasy Pros:

Unlike the average auction values chart, which descends throughout, this one levels out pretty early on. This means that, by getting a high-cost QB, you are paying much more for just about the same projected points.
Now, a good argument could be made that you’re not just paying for projected points because the high-end QBs also have a higher ceiling. That’s true, and if that’s how you feel, then get a top QB for $35-45 and pair them with a $10-15 player. Just make sure you go in with a plan based on your preferred drafting style.
Step Two: Draft a Third QB for Your Bench
The QBs on your waiver wire will be garbage. Usually, there won’t even be any starters. If you don’t draft a backup signal-caller, you will be starting garbage at Superflex during bye weeks. If one of your starting QBs goes down, you will be starting garbage.
Spend about $10-15 on this slot. You’re just trying to shore up against disaster.
You’ll have about $125-$140 remaining. How do we best spend that on other positions and a bench?
Step 3: Don’t Bid Higher than Projected $ for Any of the Top 15 Offensive Weapons
By “offensive weapons” I mean all the RBs and WRs lumped together. Don’t bid higher than the projected value for the top 15 players on the list.
I break down exactly why in this article. Basically, I studied the end-of-year fantasy stats for the top 30 players and compared it to their average auction values at the beginning of the year. Because of the hype train the higher-end players generate, they don’t deliver enough fantasy points compared to their price as players that were ranked 16-30. Just wait for everyone else to drain their funds on those guys, positioning yourself as one of the big banks when it’s finally time to make moves.
Step 4: Get Two RBs and One WR for $95-$105 Total
When the time comes, you’ve gotta make your moves. Know who you are targeting and get them. To help you plan, here are the next 15 players listed after the top 15 offensive weapons, and their projected cost:
Those are a lot of great names to build a fantasy starting roster around!
You may have noticed that I said to budget $100-110 for three of these players, that’s $30+ per player. But only 2 of those 15 are listed at over $30. This is because you want to have enough money to win any bidding wars you get into. It’s okay to go over projected value here. It’s important, even, since you waited on the top 15 players. Now is the time to shoot your shots.
If you find yourself winning players for less than your earmarked funds, go ahead and use that extra cash to get a top 3 TE. Sleeper lists Trey McBride at $34, Brock Bowers for $27, and Colston Loveland at a shamefully low $18.
If all is going according to plan, you should be sitting on $20-$40 left with only 1-3 starting slots to fill (depending on how many WR/Flex slots your league has).
Step 5: Wait for the Market to Crash before Making Your Next Move
In 90% of one quarterback fantasy auctions, there is a point where the bidding dramatically cools off. People have been paying big bucks for the top players they love, and it is now hard to really get passionate about their second or third wide receiver. WRs start going for significantly less than projected value. The 10% of auctions where this does not happen feature really conservative bidding on the top players, so managers have more money later on.
In two quarterback fantasy auctions, the market ALWAYS crashes. Even with a room full of tightwad auction managers, the added strain of having to pay way up for quarterback is too much for any market to bear.
Wait until guys start going for a decent amount less than projected, then fill out your remaining starting slots and bench.
