If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning? One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple: stop being concerned with finding good defenses, and find defenses that are playing against terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing poorly because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Following this flawless logic, let’s find out who we should stream this week!
Green Bay Packers Defense (45% owned) @ Los Angeles Rams
When it comes to streaming defenses in week fifteen, we are going to start off with the usual suspect: the Los Angeles Rams. Specifically whoever the Rams are playing. The Rams have the fourth-most turnovers and the second-highest rate of drives ending in turnovers. They also have the fifth-fewest percentage of plays ending in a scoring drive. The Rams’ offense has the fewest yards per offensive play, but they make up for it by allowing the most sacks. The Rams give up the second-most fantasy points to opposing defenses and have consistently been a high-floor/high-ceiling play all season. If the Packers are on your waiver wire, you need to grab them.
Minnesota Vikings Defense (34% owned) @ Indianapolis Colts
Truth be told, the Vikings and Packers are a coin flip for me when it comes to streaming defenses this week. The Colts are an incredibly juicy match-up. Like the Rams, they give up the most sacks to opposing defenses. Unlike the Rams, they have the most turnovers in football The Colts gain the third-fewest yards per play. Most important of all, the Colts give up the most fantasy points to opposing defenses. I only listed the Packers before the Vikings because the Vikings have a slightly more talented defense. But the Vikings are an incredibly fun streaming option in week fifteen.
New Orleans Saints Defense (35% owned) @ Atlanta Falcons
If you can’t get the Packers or the Vikings, the New Orleans Saints are a sneaky value. To me, this is just betting on a defense going against a rookie quarterback in their first start. The Falcons already run the second-fewest plays of any offense in football. Added to that there is no way Desmond Ridder is ready for an NFL football game. I was very low on him coming out and counting on a third-round quarterback in one of the weakest quarterback classes of the last twenty years just feels like a recipe for disaster. Unless you are starting the defense playing the Falcons. Then it feels like a great opportunity.
