2022 Rashaad Penny Fantasy Football Overview:
Rashaad Penny was well on his way to joining the long sad history of first-round busts in the NFL. He managed just 178 touches in his first three seasons, as injuries stole 21 games from him in his first three seasons. Indeed, he couldn’t put together even three-straight games with at least 25% snap share at any point in his first three years in the league. But, at the end of 2021, everything seemingly changed.
He played six games at the end of the year, and had a massive amount of snaps, passing 40% of snaps in six-straight games, marking the first time in his career that Penny was a “full time back.” And boy howdy, was he good. He averaged 18 touches for 125 yards in this span and topped 130 yards in three of his last four games.
So, that’s the story of Rashaad Penny: which Penny will we see in 2022? Honestly, there’s no real way to know. The Seahawks brought in baby Rashaad Penny with Kenneth Walker III, but it seems as though Penny will get the lions’ share of touches, at least until he can’t anymore. There’s no way to really know which Rashaad Penny we are getting, and anyone trying to tell you differently is selling you snake oil. So, this comes down to the investment cost in Penny, if that’s worth the upside.
2022 Rashaad Penny Fantasy Football Draft Strategy:
Rashaad Penny Salary Cap Value: $2

It all comes down to investment with Penny, and the investment is, well… let’s just say that he’s aptly named. Right now, Rashaad Penny is RB32, pick 89 off the board. He’s also $5.5 by average auction value. That’s $4.4 less than (and 8 picks after) Devin Singletary, who did the same thing as Penny, except instead of injuries, he was held down by Zack Moss. And Devin Singletary didn’t show the upside that Penny showed in his full-time role at the end of 2021.
Rashaad Penny is one of those players where the downside is fully and adequately baked into his price. There’s almost no risk to a pick in the 80s, especially since he’s a guy that is likely to fall because nobody wants to reach for the guy who gets hurt all the time. But, because of this, nobody drafts him, because they ignore his upside. At his price, I don’t know if there’s a better potential upside value than Rashaad Penny in fantasy football.
Best Case Scenario:
He staves off Kenneth Walker III and is a top-end RB1 for the season.
Worst Case Scenario:
Well, uh, you know… the thing he always does (not verbalizing it).
