2021 Marquise Brown Fantasy Football Player Profile

Marquise Brown Baltimore Ravens Fantasy Football

It’s that time of year once again! Football Absurdity will bring you a breakdown of every notable fantasy football-relevant player throughout June, July, and August. We’ve run through 20 quarterbacks and 40 running backs; that means it’s time to get to the deepest and most varied position! That’s right, we’re on to the wide receivers! Marquise Brown had a strong end to 2020, but there are a lot of factors to make you think that 2021 Marquise Brown won’t build on that strong finish.

2021 Marquise Brown Fantasy Football Overview:

Through ten games last year, Marquise Brown had 3.2 receptions for 43.1 yards per game. Entirely pedestrian numbers. In his last six games, he added on one catch for 17 yards… and a touchdown per game. This vaulted him into a range where fake news fantasy football media would tell you about his raw fantasy points. But, he just clustered his touchdowns while getting 4 catches for 56 yards per game. Nothing exciting to be had there.

Plus, the Baltimore Ravens added Rashod Bateman to catch footballs underneath from Lamar Jackson. What do you think is more likely to happen: that this leads to more Hollywood Brown targets or fewer Hollywood Brown targets. The likely outcome is fewer Hollywood targets. The Ravens have talked a big game about changing their offensive philosophy to be more pass-oriented, but I guarantee that Hollywood had more targets than you think (100!). That means a step back in his target volume and a decrease in output.

Draft Ranking: Find out for your league settings in a Beersheet!

I want to give major props to the draft community. When I wrote my Sleeper, Breakout, and Bust articles this year in June, Brown was WR39. Now, he’s slipped slightly, down to WR43. Honestly? That feels about right, if you want him. As a guy going in his range, sure, take a shot on him. But, be ready to cut bait. He’s going to be a boom-bust wide receiver that will likely find his way onto your roster 2-3 times in 2021. That also means you cut him 2-3 times over the course of 2021.

He will have massive blow up weeks that will make me look like a complete idiot, and I will accept that. I will also accept that he will not have enough weekly floor for me to want him on any one of my rosters. Unless you can guarantee me that he will score a touchdown per week, I am going to look elsewhere for my #4 wide receiver.

Best Case Scenario:

The end of the season is the real Hollywood Brown, and he finishes 2021 with 900 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Worst Case Scenario:

The beginning of last season is the real Hollywood Brown, and he finishes 2021 with 700 yards and 3 touchdowns.
