You Be the Commish: What Do You Do When an Odd Number of Players Joins the League?

odd number of players

It seems simple enough to ignore the fact that an odd number of players have signed up for a fantasy football league. Hey, sometimes people just have a bye week. But then you actually see it implemented: In order to ensure fair scheduling multiple people per week need to have byes and it’s just a ridiculous mess.

So, what do you do as a commissioner to deal with the possibility of having an odd number of players sign up for the league? Share your plan in the comments section, and also check for our own solutions there, as well.

  1. In all the leagues I commission, I keep an “alternate.” Usually it’s a close friend of mine that I know is into fantasy. That way, if draft day approaches and we need one more for an even number, they are there to fill that role
