Week Two Fantasy Football Streaming Defenses – WE STILL DON’T KNOW YET!

Los Angeles Rams streaming defenses

If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league.  If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for?  I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league!  Why do you hate winning? One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses.  This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses.  Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best options each week for those of us who are streaming defenses.

Streaming Defenses Option #1: Los Angeles Rams Defense (39% rostered) @ Philadelphia

While they didn’t have the strongest week one performance, that doesn’t mean the Los Angeles Rams aren’t worth starting.  Last year, they were the fifth-best fantasy defense in standard-scoring formats.  If you couple that with an offense that gave up the second-most fantasy points to an opposing defense in week one and you have a very interesting matchup.  I’m not sure the Eagles offensive line can stop the Rams and there is a very good chance that Aaron Donald tears Carson Wentz in half.  This is my favorite defense of the week.

Streaming Defenses Option #2: Tennessee Titans Defense (44% rostered) @ Jacksonville

Last year, the Tennessee Titans were the eleventh-best fantasy defense.  While they had some struggles against the Broncos in week one, there were also a lot of things to like about them.  The top of that list being adding Jadeveon Clowney to an already stacked defense.  This week, the Titans get to go from a high-altitude game with no preseason to the marshy swamps of Jacksonville with a game under their belt.  Last year, Jacksonville gave up the twelfth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses.  A good defense versus a bad offense is usually a good bet.

Streaming Defenses Option #3: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defense (40% rostered) @ Carolina

To put it simply, last year the Carolina Panthers gave up the most fantasy points to opposing defenses.  This year, they have a new quarterback and a new head coach, and the loss of a preseason will make it harder for Carolina to get up to speed.  On the other side of the ball, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense was a top-ten fantasy defense in standard-scoring formats in 2019.  This combination should make Tampa Bay owners very happy this week.
