2021 Damien Harris Player Profile

As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts. If Damien Harris had played in all 16 games last year, he would have ended up as RB28. Then again, a starting running back playing all 16 games and not cracking the top 24 is really bad.

On the other hand, he is soooooo boring he may just fall to you at a spot where you don’t mind picking an RB3. I often use Yahoo! to stream fantasy football auctions. However, Yahoo! puts ads on the bottom of the screen that I don’t see any money for. One time they had an ad for women’s underwear, which I guess is cool because it means a decent share of women play fantasy football. I figured out that if I report the ad for some bogus reason, like being offensive or political, it eventually stops showing ads. I just reported an ad for the zoo for being a “scam.”

2021 Damien Harris Overview

Damien Harris is the latest in a long line of players where we all go “huh he’s the only true running back on the team, certainly that much volume means he’s a good pick. But wait, New England running backs are always annoyingly underproductive. I’ll pass.” But this could be the year that this trend gets proverbially bucked. Speaking of bucking trends, I have been able to report all ads except one. I just reported an ad that was just a picture of a pizza for being “offensive.”

First of all, there’s no TB12 to spread around a high volume of passes. Belichick is not going to have Cam Newton, whose throwing arm has been injured for years, tossing a lot of passes. So Cam being bad at passing is good for Harris. However, Cam being good at rushing is bad for Harris. Cam is going to vulture a lot of goal-line TDs. There’s one ad that Yahoo! won’t let me report: Ritz Crispers. What did Ritz do for Yahoo! to make their product so untouchable?

Harris did average an impressive 5 yards-per-carry and was a top 24 RB the ten weeks he did play. So he’s not a “DON’T TOUCH UNDER PENALTY OF FANTASY DEATH.” His only big knock is his majorly limited ceiling.

2021 Damien Harris Fantasy Football Draft Strategy:

Damien Harris Auction Value: $2
Draft Ranking: Find out for your league settings in a Beersheet!

He’s going in the back half of round 7 in 12-team leagues. 8th round feels right about the spot to grab a low-upside flex RB. He’ll provide the RB depths that every team should crave (although @ZackyNFL will probably take to our Discord to argue his rigorously-tested 2021 zero-RB strategy).  Amazon currently has a sale on Ritz Crispers for 67 cents off AND a coupon for a discount of 66 cents. That’s the mark of the beast, people, this conspiracy goes all the way to the bottom!

In my extensive work doing all-human auctions, Harris goes for under $3 about 20 percent of the time. That’s when I take him, otherwise, I don’t really care. Really, someone of his value is worth $5-8 if you believe in him. Sometimes two people believe in him and bid him up to the teens. That’s an entire upgrade from a tier 2 RB to a tier 1 RB. Damien Harris isn’t worth an upgrade from a tier 2 to a tier 1 RB. If you go to Ritz Crackers’ home page, it has a line at the top warning people about a current product safety recall. This warning leads to a page with this at the top:

The page has zero info about any product safety recall. Bribing Yahoo! to not allow their content to be censored, deals with the devil, now trolling consumers about product safety issues? The Ritz brand used to stand for common sense snacking, now it stands for global anarchy!

Best Case Scenario:

Harris gets enough work to be a regular RB2. That’s a good value, although the potential for a breakout week is virtually nil. Ritz proves themselves to be kind Gods, allowing humanity to continue to exist.

Worst Case Scenario:

Harris goes for too much draft capital and we again fall victim to the Patriots’ running back shell game. Ritz razes the Earth and all living inhabitants, cackling with glee as it shucks off its cracker coil and blasts the planet into the sun.
