Start or Sit Jared Goff, Drew Lock or Matthew Stafford in Fantasy Football Week 15?

Jared Goff Los Angeles Rams start or sit

Congratulations. If you’re reading this, it means that you made it to the semi-finals in your fantasy football league. Or it means that you’re taking your consolation bracket extremely seriously. If it’s the second, maybe listen to us a little bit more next year, okay? Anyway, it’s time to take a look at three guys who you might consider streaming at this point in the season. Should you start or sit Jared Goff, Drew Lock or Matthew Stafford in fantasy football week fifteen?

Start or Sit Jared Goff versus N.Y. Jets

The Seahawks got on the plane before the game was even over in week fourteen, crushing the Jets 40-3. It was an especially weird move, since the Seahawks played at home in week fourteen. They probably just wanted to escape the secondhand embarrassment associated with being so close to a team that has conceded the fact that they won’t win a game this season. Geno Smith was under center in the third quarter, which is the only reason I might sit Jared Goff this week. The Rams will likely run roughshod all over these Jets, which might limit his upside. At the same time, Russell Wilson had four touchdowns against them, which matches his four previous games combined.

The Jets are officially slump busters, at this point. And boy howdy does Goff need a slump buster; he has just six passing touchdowns in his last six games, compared to seven picks in that same span. Goff is a perfectly cromulent streamer, with the caveat that he could end up with 200 passing yards and no touchdowns as Cam Akers goes off for three rushing touchdowns. If I’m in a bind, however, I can’t think of a better move than to start Jared Goff in week fifteen.

Start or Sit Drew Lock versus Buffalo

Look, I know that Drew Lock filled up the stat sheet last week and that the Bills are a top-ten fantasy matchup on paper. But, neither of those things are really true when you look at their week fifteen matchup. Lock had one of the more hideous 280-yard, 4-touchdown games you will ever see. I broke it all down in an Absurdity Check this week, which you can find here. Long story short: despite his big game, sit Drew Lock this week. He is simply too volatile to trust in week fifteen, and the Bills are a worse matchup than they appear.

Start or Sit Matthew Stafford at Tennessee

I can’t believe I picked a guy who had to leave his last game with a ribs injury, but his matchup is too good to ignore. The Titans will run all over the Lions. They will; that’s a fact. Derrick Henry can’t be stopped, and the Lions can’t stop anyone to save their lives. That means that the Lions will need to throw to get back into it. Despite no Kenny Golladay, I have confidence in Matthew Stafford this week… if he plays. His ribs injury is concerning, and obviously, I will update this space if bad news hits.

But for now, all I have is good news. The Titans allow the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks on the season. Better news, they allow the fourth-most in the last five weeks, including Mike Glennon and Gardner Minshew trying to stink up the joint as much as possible in week fourteen. Tennessee is a plus matchup, and the Lions are the type of team that will need to air it out for success against them. Because of this, if he is healthy, I will start Matthew Stafford.

What’s the Verdict?

I can’t find a start or sit situation that would end with me starting Drew Lock in a 1QB league, so he’s out. As for Stafford versus Goff, I will roll with Jared Goff. Goff plays a team that uses both the words “play” and “team” very loosely as the Jets play out the string on 2020.
