If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, or my waiver wire cheat sheets, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read them, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning? One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options on a weekly basis. Below you’ll find a great week eleven defense that might just be available on your waiver wire.
Carolina DEF (53% owned) @ Atlanta
Normally, my cutoff for defensive streamers is 50%, but I’m making an exception because I feel this strongly about Atlanta. One might think that Falcons win over the Saints in week ten means that they are finally starting to figure things out and they might actually be competitive the rest of the season. That is… unless you actually watched the Falcons play football games this year. If you are watching the Falcons, you are watching a team that is an absolute train wreck. They have given up the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses, and five of their nine opponents have had DEF1 performances. I expect the Falcons to bounce back to form and completely poop themselves against Carolina.
Oakland DEF (27% owned) @ Cincinnati
It is weird to say, but I think the Oakland Raiders might be good. Ten weeks into the season and the Raiders have a winning record. Even if they aren’t good, they are playing the Cincinnati Bengals. Teams like the Dolphins have to work towards tanking their season, and inevitably fail at it. The Bengals aren’t even trying and they are winless. On top of that, they have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses. So whether the Raiders are good or the Bengals are bad, Oakland is a great streaming week eleven defense play.
New York Jets DEF (30% owned) @ Washington
In the last couple of weeks, I’ve told you to start the Jets defense. Also in the last couple of weeks, I’ve been right. Last week, they destroyed the Giants. This week, they are playing a Washington team that has been giving up top-ten defensive performances to opposing teams. They have also given up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Basically, if you need your defense to get points, it helps if they are playing Washington.
