Start or Sit James Conner, Derrick Henry, or David Johnson in Week 5?

Should I Start James Conner, Derrick Henry, or David Johnson in Week 5?

This year, for start-or-sit advice, I’ve decided to share my wife’s fantasy football “insight” with the world. We will be looking at some sticky fantasy football start or sit decisions each week, and each of us will tell you whether or not you should rock ’em or sock ’em. I will use mostly statistical analysis, with just a touch of gut feeling. Erin will use whatever thing she uses to tell you if the name speaks to her.

Week 4 Recap:

Week 5 Picks:

Start or Sit James Conner vs. Baltimore Ravens Week 5

Bryan’s Take: Conner has not done much to earn his preseason 1st round ADP. I can speak from experience when I say that anyone who drafted him early has had it with Conner, the Steelers, Big Ben’s elbow, the AFC North, and fantasy football, in general. Facing a lean, mean Baltimore D in Week 5… Get ready for more disappointment, James Conner owners! Sit James Conner week 5.

Erin’s Take: My daughter has a friend named Conner, who came to her aid when her car battery was dead. So, James Conner makes me think of a sweet, sensitive guy. Sit James Conner week 5.

Start or Sit Derrick Henry vs Buffalo Bills Week 5

Bryan’s Take: I was very low on Henry all preseason, and he’s done a great job of making me look stupid so far. I recognize the fact that Henry is a monster of a human being, let alone a RB, and has world class sprinter speed in the open field. The Bills defense is good, but they’ve been much better against the pass than they are against the run. With that, I begrudgingly say start Derrick Henry week 5.

Erin’s Take: I imagine Derrick Henry is a really big, cocky jerk. That makes me think he’s going to have a good game. Start Derrick Henry week 5.

Start or Sit David Johnson at Cincinnati Bengals Week 5

Bryan’s Take: Speaking of disappointing first round picks, let’s take a look at David Johnson. We all know how talented Johnson is, but he’s just not getting it done on the ground. Granted, he hasn’t been getting a ton of carries. The Bengals have been better against the run than they have against the pass. The good news is, Johnson is an excellent receiver, and has been involved in the passing game. I can see that being needed here. Start David Johnson week 5.

Erin’s Take: I like anyone with the last name Johnson. I think he could be cocky too, but he sounds a little more delicate. Like he’s a smaller guy overcompensating for his size. Sit David Johnson week 5.

Final Ranks

Bryan: David Johnson > Derrick Henry > James Conner

Erin: Derrick Henry > James Conner > David Johnson
