Start or Sit Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Courtland Sutton, or Mike Williams in Week 5?

Should I Start Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Courtland Sutton, or Mike Williams in Week 5?

This year, for start-or-sit advice, I’ve decided to share my wife’s fantasy football “insight” with the world. We will be looking at some sticky fantasy football start or sit decisions each week, and each of us will tell you whether or not you should rock ’em or sock ’em. I will use mostly statistical analysis, with just a touch of gut feeling. Erin will use whatever thing she uses to tell you if the name speaks to her.

Start or Sit Marquez Valdes-Scantling at Dallas Cowboys

Bryan’s Take: As a fantasy owner, it feels great starting a 2nd tier fantasy player, like MVS, when he BOOMS. Valdes-Scantling has been heavily involved in the Packers offense all season, and already boomed pretty big in Week 3. The Cowboys rank as a middle of the road pass defense, but that comes with a HUGE asterisk since their Week 3 opponent was the hapless Miami Dolphins. Expect a track meet in Dallas. Expect passing yards galore, and expect a feel great game from MVS. Start Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Erin’s Take: Wow! That’s a lot of name to live up to, even though “Marquez” is just fancy for “Mark.” I love it. I love it so much! He was a well-loved child, and he’s going to do great. Start Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Start or Sit Courtland Sutton vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Bryan’s Take: Courtland Sutton is a dynamic receiver. He has a higher average yards per catch than Odell Beckham Jr., Amari Cooper, and Julio Jones, just to name a few. Teams have had no trouble throwing on the Chargers, and they’ve been especially generous when it comes to giving up receiving TDs. You can count on Courtland for a big targets and big plays. Start Courtland Sutton.

Erin’s Take: He reminds me of a crisp fall day… like a Cortland apple. These parents knew their kid was going to be something special. Start Courtland Sutton.

Start or Sit Mike Williams at Denver Broncos

Bryan’s Take: Williams missed Week 4 due to a back injury, and we’re hoping he’ll be 100% in Week 5. Even if he is, the Broncos defense is among the league’s best against the pass. Add that to the glut of rushers in the Chargers backfield, with the recent return of Melvin Gordon, and you’ve got a recipe for a low volume day for Mike Williams. Sit Mike Williams.

Erin’s Take: Mike Williams sounds like a nice enough guy and all. I just don’t get a warm, fuzzy feeling about him. Sit Mike Williams.

Final Ranks

Bryan: Courtland Sutton > Marquez Valdes-Scantling > Mike Williams

Erin: Marquez Valdes-Scantling > Courtland Sutton > Mike Williams
