Fantasy Football Cam Newton Overview: Cam Newton is an interesting profile to study. It appears that every odd-numbered year, he is amazing. In the even number years, he is just average. However, if you are drafting Superman, you aren’t looking for average. There is a part of me that worries that he is going to rank in the middle for quarterbacks, which would be a concern. That split could mean when he does well, it takes another year for his body to recover. Or it could just be a coincidence. One thing that I really like is he finally has an offensive coordinator in Norv Turner who has had sustained success in the NFL.
Fantasy Football Cam Newton Strategy: Truth be told, Cam is not on my radar to draft. At his current ADP, he is going to be selected in a position where I could get Marvin Jones or Greg Olsen, both of whom have shown they can end the season in the top-five at their position. If he somehow fell to the 7th or 8th round, I would certainly consider grabbing him there. But I’d rather wait a couple of rounds and target Andrew Luck, who I think is seriously undervalued.
Ceiling: His ceiling, like his jersey number, is number one. There is no doubt that when he does well, he is amongst the elite.
Floor: The curse of the even number year proves to be Superman’s kryptonite, rendering Cam mediocre.
