2018 Fantasy Football Matt Ryan Player Profile

Matt Ryan Player Profile

If you want your quarterbacks to look like they are about to tell a dad joke, then this fantasy football Matt Ryan player profile should make you chuckle reluctantly. As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts.  When you don’t see us talking about Christine Michael or Mike Davis, don’t get mad at us for neglecting your favorite sleeper.  Get mad at yourself for having bad taste in football players.

When looking at my player profiles, It is important to note that I think quarterback play is replaceable for low-end QB1’s.  So when I evaluate quarterback prospects, I am looking for top-three potential.  This will skew my perspective and analysis.  Because I am gambling on upside, I tend to draft two quarterbacks and the quarterbacks I draft tend to be younger.

Fantasy Football Matt Ryan Overview: In my Cam Newton player profile, I pointed out that Cam Newton is only good in odd-numbered years.  Matt Ryan is the anti-Cam.  Cam dresses flashy.  Matt Ryan dresses like he’s about to sell you insurance.  Cam excels at throwing the football outside of the pocket.  Matt Ryan is a pocket passer.  Cam is only good in odd-numbered years.  Matt Ryan is only good in even-numbered years.  It is time to ride the Matt Ryan train. While he is unlikely to hit his lofty 2016 numbers without Kyle Shanahan running the offense, the addition of Calvin Ridley does make that offense a lot more intriguing.

Fantasy Football Matt Ryan Strategy: At his current ADP, I think Ryan is a great value.  He is a guy who has a high-floor AND a high-ceiling.  He would be a guy I target in the middle-rounds to pair with a younger player with upside.

Ceiling: If everything falls into place, Ryan could certainly end the year as a top-five fantasy quarterback.

Floor:  Ryan’s drop off from 2016 to 2017 continues into this year.  He ends the year as a replacement-level quarterback.
