2023 Fantasy Football Week 13 Start or Sit: Baker Mayfield, Devin Singletary, Cooper Kupp & More!

Cooper Kupp Los Angeles Rams

Hey everyone! Still recognize me? I took a weekend off for the holiday (and because the plethora of weekday games left me very few options for this article), but I’m back and better than ever for week 13 starts and sits.

QB START OF THE WEEK: Kyler Murray, ARI @ PIT (ECR: 10, my rank: 7)

I’m breaking the rules at QB this week because I have the same players in my top 12 as consensus, just ranked in a different order. Kyler has been lighting it up on the fantasy scoreboard since returning from injury and faces a porous Pittsburgh secondary. I would start Murray over Trevor Lawrence.

QB SIT OF THE WEEK: Baker Mayfield, TB vs. CAR (ECR: 14, my rank: 16)

Baker is a fine QB2 this week (as usual), but Carolina is a stingy pass defense. The Buccaneers could have serious issues moving the ball consistently on Sunday. I would stream Gardner Minshew over Mayfield.

RB START OF THE WEEK: De’Von Achane, MIA @ WAS (ECR: 30, my rank: 23)

We’ve seen what Achane can do when healthy. Washington is not a good defense. This one seems too easy. When Achane is active, you start him. I would play him over Brian Robinson.

RB SIT OF THE WEEK: Devin Singletary, HOU vs. DEN (ECR: 21, my rank: 25)

Denver’s defense is playing very well lately and Houston throws the ball early and often. I don’t see Singletary getting the volume necessary to overcome a likely bad game in terms of efficiency. I would rather play James Conner or either Steelers back.

WR START OF THE WEEK: Garrett Wilson, NYJ vs. ATL (ECR: 25, my rank: 15)

Wilson is another player who is too good to sit in my opinion. You’re going to be pissed when he goes for 7/100/1 on your bench. I know Tim Boyle sucks, but Garrett Wilson is really good and can make big plays out of nothing. Wilson is ahead of Terry McLaurin in my rankings.

OTHER WR STARTS:
Josh Downs, IND @ TEN (ECR: 26, my rank: 21)
Marquise Brown, ARI @ PIT (ECR: 28, my rank: 19)

WR SIT OF THE WEEK: Cooper Kupp, LAR vs. CLE (ECR: 20, my rank: 32)

Unfortunately, Cooper Kupp is simply not healthy. He is being used as the team’s WR2 behind Puka Nacua as a result, and this is a truly awful matchup against the Browns. I’d rather play Curtis Samuel.

OTHER WR SITS:
Puka Nacua, LAR vs. CLE (ECR: 16, my rank: 28)

TE START OF THE WEEK: Tyler Conklin, NYJ vs. ATL (ECR: 16, my rank: 12)

TWO Jets??? To be fair, this isn’t a strong recommendation. I prefer Cade Otton to Conklin. But if you’re desperate, he’s the best of the desperation plays. He gets targets and catches most of them.

TE SIT OF THE WEEK: Juwan Johnson, NO vs. DET (ECR: 11, my rank: 18)

Conventional wisdom would say you should play Johnson against a Lions defense without its best coverage linebacker, Alex Anzalone. However, with Rashid Shaheed out and Chris Olave questionable, Johnson becomes a primary option in the offense. The Lions will therefore treat him as such and force New Orleans to beat them through the air with Taysom Hill and A.T. Perry. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling this is a disappointing game for Johnson.
