We’re over halfway through the fantasy football season, and you’re tired of looking at your redraft fantasy football league. That’s fine, and that’s understandable. You’re 2-7 because of injuries, COVID chicanery coaches not using players the way you think they should. No matter, that’s why we have daily fantasy sports. Here are some daily fantasy football (FanDuel) options to help you fit a bunch of stars into your lineup. Here are some bargain-basement value plays for week ten.
Daily Fantasy Football (FanDuel) Value QB (sub-$7k):
Tua Tagovailoa versus L.A. Chargers ($6,800)
Tua took a second for him to get his legs underneath him, completely botching his first start in the NFL. You would botch your first start, as well. The Dolphins’ long-time love turned it on last week in a matchup with a fellow young gun, Kyler Murray. Tua scored 21.42 fantasy points last week, which is usually good enough for top-12, but he ranked seventeenth. His performance was still very good for fantasy purposes: 248 passing yards, two touchdowns, along with 35 yards rushing and no turnovers. And that was against a middle-of-the-road QB defense.
This week, he gets the Chargers, who are one of the worst QB defenses in the league. The running backs took care of the Chargers last week, but prior to that, they had allowed a 19+ fantasy point game every week going all the way back to week four. Tua is one of the guys who is the future of the NFL, and he’s going to be a lot of fun. That should start in a big way this week.
Other Options: Baker Mayfield v HOU ($7k), Derek Carr v DEN ($6.9k)
Daily Fantasy Football (FanDuel) Value RB (sub-$5k):
Matt Breida ($4,600) or Salvon Ahmed ($4,900) versus L.A. Chargers
What an absolute nightmare of a backfield. If you’re reading this article, it’s likely you need to get some sort of swing-from-your-heels boom-bust guy to win. If that’s the case, that’s Matt Breida. If you like to put orange juice in your cereal because it’s unexpected… that’s Salvon Ahmed. Ahmed is a rookie who is too skinny and can get a lot with good blocking, but tends to drop at the first hint of contact. The Chargers give up the twelfth-most fantasy points to running backs this season, and have given up touchdowns to four different running backs in the last three weeks.
Other Options: Latavius Murray v SF ($5k)
Daily Fantasy Football (FanDuel) Value WR (sub-$5k):
Tre’Quan Smith versus San Francisco ($5,000)
Tre’Quan Smith is starting to come on for the Saints lately, receiving 13 targets in his last three games, and scoring at least 7.4 fantasy points in those games. The 49ers are a mess this weekend, with Richard Sherman maybe playing in his first game in nearly two months, and the 49ers likely being without starting safeties Jaquiski Tartt and Jimmie Ward, as well as likely missing slot CB K’Waun Williams. This is going to be a jailbreak situation for the Saints, and the key is to snag a part of that, if you can. Tre’Quan is an inexpensive way to do that.
Other Options: Hunter Renfrow v DEN ($4.9k), Josh Reynolds v SEA ($5k), Gabriel Davis @ARI ($5k)
Daily Fantasy Football (FanDuel) Value TE (sub-$5k)
Jordan Reed at New Orleans ($5,000)
Jordan Reed “returned” last week, but Kyle Shanahan told everyone he would be on a snap count. Many fantasy football players chose to not listen and then became extremely agitated when Reed played just 13 snaps in what quickly turned into an exercise in preserving the roster’s health. The Niners will be ten days removed from that debacle and will travel to New Orleans to play the Saints. Reed has topped 25% of the 49ers’ snaps just once this season, and he went for 50 yards and two touchdowns in that game. The Saints aren’t a difficult matchup, either (Tom Brady looking 65 years old, excepted).
Other Options: Gerald Everett v SEA ($4.5k), Logan Thomas @DET ($4.9k)
