Quarterback Sleepers Fantasy Football Week 2: Old Man River(s)

Philip Rivers Los Angeles Chargers Fantasy Football quarterback sleeper waiver wire

Fantasy football week two is here, and you probably have some disappointments on your roster already. If you’re looking for some extra punch in your lineup, look no further than these quarterback sleepers for week two! To qualify for this article, a player must be on the waiver wire in at least 50% of Yahoo! leagues. For you deep-league managers, we have a player available in at least 90% of Yahoo! fantasy football leagues. You’re going to have to be exceptionally desperate to get in on a couple of these guys.

Quarterback Sleepers Option #1: Ryan Tannehill versus Jacksonville (45% rostered)

The Jaguars successfully stopped the next guy on this list last week, but that had more to do with him being in a new situation with new weapons all around him. When the dust settled, the Jaguars allowed an over 78% completion rate last week. If Tannehill gets that this week, he’s slicing and dicing the Jaguars going away. Tannehill ended last week with 43 pass attempts, a far cry from the 25.4 per game he averaged in his 13 starts last year. He turned that into 249 and 2 against a strong Denver defense in Denver. Let’s see what he does in his home debut against a much worse opponent.

Quarterback Sleepers Option #2: Philip Rivers at Minnesota (27% rostered)

I’m not scared of Mr. Rivers this week, and I doubt he repeats his two-turnover performance from last week against the Jaguars. That probably has a lot to do with the Minnesota Vikings shedding every player worth half a Kit Kat on defense, a move that already saw Aaron Rodgers drop four TDs on them with relative ease. They’re the worst team against QBs right now, and if you watched the games, it wasn’t even close. Roll out Old Man Rivers this week in the Land of a Thousand Lakes.

Quarterback Sleepers Deep Dive Option: Mitchell Trubisky versus New York Giants (6% rostered)

Things are bleak down here but hell, Troobs went for 3 touchdowns last week and had an insane comeback against the Lions. This one likely ends in heartbreak, so ideally you aren’t trawling this deep but it’s hard to ignore a guy who went for 242 and three TDs
and a 55.56% completion rating

wait do spoilers not work on this site oh no
. Big Ben carved up the Giants last week with 229 passing yards and 3 scores on just 32 pass attempts.

Quarterback Sleepers Honorable Mentions:

Jimmy Garoppolo at N.Y. Jets (50% rostered), Gardner Minshew at Tennessee (30% rostered)
