Daily Fantasy Football FanDuel Value Plays: Week 2

dumpster dive daily fantasy football running back sleepers

Hopefully, last week you didn’t listen to me at all, because I whiffed on my big name guys! Luckily, I cashed in on my daily fantasy football dumpster dive honorable mentions: Joshua Kelley, Laviska Shenault, James Robinson, Gardner Minshew, and Mitchell Trubisky. Maybe this week when you read the FanDuel value plays, you ignore the guys who get highlighted and instead stare directly at the players labeled “additional options?”

FanDuel Value Play Quarterback: Philip Rivers ($7,100) versus Minnesota

The Vikings let Aaron Rodgers chew them up and spit them out last weekend, quieting the “is Rodgers cooked?” chorus for at least one week. Unfortunately, they traveled to Jacksonville, where Rivers looked like a mess at times against the Jags defense. There were some bright sides to Rivers’ game: 363 passing yards and a near-80% completion percentage. If Frank Reich can convince Rivers that his arm is toast, he will stop throwing stupid picks, and reward his fantasy football devotees.

Additional Options: Ryan Tannehill vs. JAX ($7,000), Jimmy Garoppolo @NYJ ($7,100)
FanDuel Value Play Running Back: Nyheim Hines ($5,500) versus Minnesota

This one was hard because Jonathan Taylor ($5,800) is a greater value, but doesn’t quite carry the “dumpster dive” price tag. If you end up with $300+ leftover, go ahead and make the switch. We all know the story here: Nyheim Hines scored two touchdowns as the Colts’ goal line and much-targeted back last week. He had that role before Indy lost Marlon Mack for the season with an injury, so I expect that to continue this week. The Packers didn’t have to try hard against the Vikings on the ground, but Aaron Jones went for 76 and a score, and Jamaal Williams kicked in 42 yards on 11 touches. This should be a good game for both Colts running backs.

Additional Options: Chase Edmonds versus Washington ($5,000), Jerick McKinnon at N.Y. Jets ($4,900)
FanDuel Value Play Wide Receiver: Corey Davis versus Jacksonville ($4,900)

I am of the strict belief that A.J. Brown isn’t playing this weekend. He has a bone bruise, which usually doesn’t have a quick recovery time, and the Titans described him as “week to week.” Cue the Coreydavissance in Tennessee. He hauled in seven-of-eight targets for 101 yards last weekend against a much stronger defense than Jacksonville in Denver. This week, he gets a Jacksonville squad that let Parris Campbell beat them up last weekend.

Additional Options: Scotty Miller versus Carolina ($5,200), CeeDee Lamb ($5,200)
FanDuel Value Play Tight End: Jonnu Smith versus Jacksonville ($4,900)

All you need to know about Jonnu Smith is at times last weekend, I thought he was Derrick Henry. At times last weekend, I thought he was A.J. Brown. He’s massive and fast as all get out, and if A.J. Brown misses the game, he’s could be the #1 receiving threat for the Titans this weekend. The Jags gave up 69 yards to tight ends last week, and sit in the middle-of-the-pack due to no touchdowns. They’re a great matchup to attack.

Additional Options: Chris Herndon versus San Francisco ($5,100), O.J. Howard versus Carolina ($4,800)
