We’re changing up the scoring to better benefit your leagues! Check it out:
Starting this week I’ll be going against Yahoo! in predicting whether Jamaal Williams, J.D. McKissic, and Ronald Jones will finish in the top 30 among RBs. These predictions are for HPPR, but they also work for standard and PPR leagues.
Week 8 score: Yahoo 5-1, Me 2-4
Overall Season score: Yahoo 19-17, Me 23-13
Start or Sit Jamaal Williams, Ty Johnson, or Ronald Jones in Week 9
Start or Sit Jamaal Williams Week 9
Average Weekly Score for the 30th-Ranked RB in 2019: 9.91
Since returning from a concussion, Jamaal Williams has scored in double digits for three straight games. He faces a Chargers defense that currently ranks 11th highest in points per game allowed to opposing running backs. With Kamara, Latavius, Mixon, Gurley, and Freeman on bye, it’d be pretty hard for a guy Rodgers likes so much to not be a decent flex play. Start Jamaal Williams week 9, he should hit double digits again against a ho-hum Chargers defense..
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football has him ranked 25th, so they say start Jamaal Williams, too, although they predict him to score just 8.74 fantasy points.
Start or Sit Ty Johnson Week 9
Average Weekly Score for the 30th-Ranked RB in 2019: 9.91
Owners who blew a lot of FAAB on Johnson were given a lump of coal when he failed to cross 5 fantasy points. This isn’t a hard decision: Detroit is doing a running back by committee, and the lead snap-player, Johnson, only took the field for 24 plays. Sit Ty Johnson, and expect another sub-five point game.
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football predicts him to finish 39th among running backs, so they definitely want to sit Ty Johnson.
Start or Sit Ronald Jones Week 8
Average Weekly Score for the 30th-Ranked RB in 2019: 9.91
Ronald Jones has been bad for fantasy: He is splitting carries almost 50-50 with equally ineffective Peyton Barber, and Jameis Winston keeps putting the team in pass-heavy scenarios. You’ll almost definitely be better off with a waiver wire hopeful like the following players (owned in 50% or fewer leagues): Mark Walton, Wendell Smallwood, Rex Burkhead, or Rashaad Penny. Sit Ronald Jones in week 9.
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football estimates Jones will end up 41st among running backs this week, so they want to sit Ronald Jones week 9.
Start or Sit Jamaal Williams, Ty Johnson, and Ronald Jones ranked for week 9:
Evan Hoovler (that’s me): Williams > Jones >Johnson
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football: Williams > Johnson > Jones
