Each week I’ll be taking three similarly ranked players and tell you if they are a start (they will score more than the average for the player currently at the position where they are ranked) or a sit (they will score less than the average). I’ll also rank them. Then, I’ll take the Yahoo Fantasy Football app’s predictions and see if I’m doing better or worse. The scoring will be HPPR, but the predictions work for 0 PPR or 1 point-per-reception scoring, as well. Note: Yahoo! might update their projections mid-week, in which case I’ll update this article.
Week 5 score: Yahoo 4-2, Me 5-1
Overall Season score: Yahoo 14-16, Me 21-9
Start or Sit Latavius Murray, Devin Singletary, or Mark Walton Week 8
Start or Sit Latavius Murray Week 8
Currently Ranked on ESPN: 36th
Average Weekly Score for the 36th-Ranked RB in 2019: 8.60
Murray broke out last week with a two-touchdown game, but New Orleans says Alvin Kamara will return this week. This one’s easy folks: The Saints are 6-1, have Drew Brees coming back next week, and a bye next week. Even if Kamara gets some touches (and I don’t think he will) the Saints should lean heavily on Murray. Definitely start Latavius Murray week 8 with extreme confidence.
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football predicts Murray will score 8.64 points, so they want to start Latavius Murray week 8.
Start or Sit Devin Singletary Week 8
Currently Ranked on ESPN: 38th
Average Weekly Score for the 28th-Ranked RB in 2019: 8.14
After a promising start was cut short by injury, Singletary returned to post a troubling 7 carries for 26 yards. Now that could have been just him getting his sea legs again, but it was against a horrible Dolphins defense. This week he plays an Eagles squad allowing the 6th fewest fantasy points to running backs per game. If you’re desperate, he’s not the worst play, but I’m going to sit Devin Singletary week 8.
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football predicts Singletary to score 6.74, which is a nod to sit Devin Singletary in week 8.
Start or Sit Mark Walton Week 8
Currently Ranked on SportingNews: 35th
Average Weekly Score for the 35th-Ranked RB in 2019: 8.64
Who is Mark Walton? Well, he’s a guy ranked higher than both Latavius Murray and Devin Singletary in ESPN PPR rankings for this week. He’s reached double-digit touches in each of his last two games. However, Drake is still on the Dolphins. Since the Dolphins have Drake on the trading block, wouldn’t it make sense to showcase him with a majority of the touches? While Walton is a decent long-term stash in deep leagues, he’s not gonna top 9 points this week. Sit Mark Walton week 8.
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football estimates Walton will score a piddling 7.55 points, so they say sit Mark Walton in week 8.
Latavius Murray, Devin Singletary, and Mark Walton Week 8 ranked for week 8:
Evan Hoovler (that’s me): Murray > Singletary > Walton
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football: Murray > Walton > Singletary
