Each week I’ll be taking three similarly ranked players and tell you if they are a start (they will score more than the average for the player currently at the position where they are ranked) or a sit (they will score less than the average). I’ll also rank them. Then, I’ll take the Yahoo Fantasy Football app’s predictions and see if I’m doing better or worse. The scoring will be 4 point passing TDs, HPPR, but the predictions work for 0 PPR or 1 point-per-reception scoring, as well. Note: Yahoo! might update their projections mid-week, in which case I’ll update this article.
Week 7 score: Yahoo 4-2, Me 5-1
Overall Season score: Yahoo 14-16, Me 21-9
Start or Sit Matt Moore, Jameis Winston, or Mason Rudolph Week 8
Start or Sit Matt Moore Week 8
Currently Ranked on Sports Illustrated: 16th
Average Weekly Score for the 13th-Ranked QB in 2019: 16.85
Matt Moore gets the keys to dad’s sports car by relieving Mahomes in this high-powered KC offense. But can he deliver an above average fantasy performance? Let’s start by looking at their opponent, and whether they have the talent to pressure the unseasoned QB regularly. Kansas City plays Green Bay week 8. The Packers offense has been mean, ranking in the top 5 in fewest passing yards allowed, lowest yards per carry, yards per game allowed, and lowest QB ranking. Normally, I would go on to provide other statistical info, but that’s more than enough for me to give a solid “nuh-uh, gonna find someone else.” Sit Matt Moore in week 8.
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football predicts Moore will score 17.65 points, so they want to start Matt Moore in week 8.
Start or Sit Jameis Winston Week 8
Currently Ranked on Sports Illustrated: 13th
Average Weekly Score for the 13th-Ranked QB in 2019: 18.22
Everyone’s favorite choke artist got a much-needed week off after throwing an interception against Carolina on what felt like every single play. This week he gets the even sterner Tennessee defense. Honestly, a solid defense is not the key to a Winston turnaround. He’s going to get clobbered out there, maybe even benched. I would definitely sit Jameis Winston over someone else I could probably find on the waiver wire.
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football predicts Winston to score 18.24, which is a narrowly-decided vote to start Jameis Winston in week 8.
Start or Sit Mason Rudolph Week 8
Currently Ranked on Sports Illustrated: 18th
Average Weekly Score for the 18th-Ranked QB in 2019: 16.75
Having cleared concussion protocol a week ago, Mason Rudolph looks ready to take on a Miami passing defense that allows the second most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Pundits are shy on Rudolph because he has 14 and 16 points in his 2 full starts. But one of those starts was against the 49ers crushing defense. Miami’s defense is not crushing, it is blindly groping around the field trying to find someone to tackle. I like Rudolph for a high floor, and expect him to be a top 12 QB this Monday night. Start Mason Rudolph in week 8.
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football estimates Rudolph will score 17.41 points, so they say start Mason Rudolph in week 8.
Matt Moore, Jameis Winston, and Mason Rudolph ranked for week 8:
Evan Hoovler (that’s me): Rudolph > Moore > Winston
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football: Winston > Moore > Rudolph
