Should I Start Kerryon Johnson, Miles Sanders, or Phillip Lindsay in Week 3?
This year for start-or-sit advice I’ve decided to share my wife’s fantasy football “insight” with the world. We will be looking at some sticky fantasy football start or sit decisions each week, and each of us will pick the player that we think should be started. I will use mostly statistical analysis, with just a touch of gut feeling. Erin will use whatever thing she uses to tell you what name speaks to her. Without further ado, let’s get into it:
Start or Sit Kerryon Johnson at Philadelphia Eagles
Bryan’s Take: The Lions’ running game, specifically Kerryon, was supposed to be money. Instead, it’s been muddy. Despite putting up 40 points in two games, the Lions have yet to score a rushing touchdown. Things won’t get easier this week, on the road, against an Eagles defense that is 3rd in the league in rushing yards allowed. Sit Kerryon Johnson.
Erin’s Take: Kerryon. I kind of like that name. “Kerryon Johnson” sounds very strong and confident. Like someone you’d be proud to take home to meet your parents. Start Kerryon Johnson.
Start or Sit Miles Sanders vs. Detroit Lions
Bryan’s Take: The Eagles haven’t run well as a team, but should be able to control things against a Detroit Lions defense that has allowed 249 rushing yards in two games. Also, the Eagles will be missing Desean Jackson and, most likely, Alshon Jeffrey. I expect Sanders to get plenty of looks, and he may even break the Eagles’ rushing touchdown drought. Start Miles Sanders.
Erin’s Take: I don’t know if he’s a good football player, but the name “Miles” has a special place in my heart. That was one of the finalists when we were deciding on what to name our son. We ended up choosing a different name, but now our dog is named Miles. Also, I love the city of Philadelphia. The best pizza I’ve ever had was in Philly. Start Miles Sanders.
Start or Sit Phillip Lindsay at Green Bay Packers
Bryan’s Take: Let me start by saying the Packers defense is really good. Last week, they ran into a buzzsaw by the name of Dalvin Cook. You, Phillip Lindsay, are no Dalvin Cook. Lindsay is in more or less a 50/50 timeshare with Royce Freeman, and Freeman has been the more productive runner. Neither one has found the end zone yet. Sit Phillip Lindsay.
Erin’s Take: His first name reminds me of royalty, but last names are supposed to tell a story. What is the origin of his last name? What is a “Lindsay”? I wouldn’t trust him. He sounds fragile. Sit Phillip Lindsay.
Final Ranks
Bryan: Miles Sanders > Kerryon Johnson > Phillip Lindsay
Erin: Kerryon Johnson > Miles Sanders > Phillip Lindsay
