Josh McCown Player Profile

If you are interested in Hail Mary hero in your quarterback, then this fantasy football Josh McCown player profile is the answer to your prayers. As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts.  When you don’t see us talking about Christine Michael or Mike Davis, don’t get mad at us for neglecting your favorite sleeper.  Get mad at yourself for having bad taste in football players.

When looking at my player profiles, It is important to note that I think quarterback play is replaceable for low-end QB1’s.  So when I evaluate quarterback prospects, I am looking for top-three potential.  This will skew my perspective and analysis.  Because I am gambling on upside, I tend to draft two quarterbacks and the quarterbacks I draft tend to be younger.

Fantasy Football Josh McCown Overview: Josh McCown is an interesting study for this fantasy football season.  The common belief with Josh McCown is that he will not finish the season, with Sam Darnold sitting in the wings.  I’m not entirely convinced of that.  In 2017, Josh McCown kept the Jets roster many considered to be the worst in the NFL competitive.  The Jets ideally want Darnold to sit a year, while they build their roster up to put him in the best position to succeed.  If McCown plays as well as he did last year, there is a good chance this will happen.

Fantasy Football Josh McCown Strategy: While I think Josh McCown will start for the Jets the entire year, that doesn’t mean I want him starting on my fantasy football roster.  There is no way I touch him in a 1QB league.  However, I do think he is a viable 3rd QB in 2QB leagues.

Ceiling: If the Jets are lucky, Josh McCown will be able to start the entire year and maybe even ends the year as a high-end QB2.

Floor:  What will actually happen is Josh McCown will remember that he is Josh McCown and proceed to throw every pass he can to opposing defenses until the Jets are forced to start Sam Darnold.
