Week twelve of the 2024 NFL season is complete and we are in crunch time. The pickings are slim and the stakes are high and the only way you are making the playoffs is the waiver wire. The waiver wire exists to save you from the cruel and unforgiving fantasy football gods. I’m going to provide you with the best options available. If I don’t mention someone you think I should be talking about, just know there are many reasons why I overlooked them. Maybe they are owned in most leagues. Perhaps they are so bad I don’t even consider them. Maybe it’s because your opinions cannot be trusted. After all, you are here. So let us examine our best week twelve waiver wire players for your championship run…
Week Thirteen Waiver Wire Quarterbacks
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams (51% rostered)
There aren’t a lot of good options left at quarterback. It is either Matthew Stafford or Caleb Williams and as a Bears fan and Caleb truther, I implore you not to invest in the Bears. In week twelve, Stafford had 243 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. With Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua back, Stafford has been a nice low-end QB1.
Week Thirteen Waiver Wire Running Backs
Ameer Abdullah, Las Vegas Raiders (26% rostered)
Last week, I told you if Mattison didn’t play to grab Ameer Abdullah. This week, Abdullah finished as the RB9 in half PPR against one of the best defenses in football. In week twelve, Abdullah had 65 all-purpose yards and 1 touchdown. Mattison didn’t practice all last week with an ankle injury. If you need a running back, Abdullah is probably your best bet.
Jeremy McNichols, Washington Commanders (1% rostered)
Brian Robinson Jr. left the game against the Cowboys with an ankle injury and Austin Ekeler is in the concussion protocol. That makes Jeremy McNichols a waiver wire priority for week thirteen if you need a running back.
Week Thirteen Waiver Wire Wide Receiver
Devaughn Vele, Denver Broncos (5% rostered)
In week twelve, Devaughn Vele had 9 catches for 80 yards and finished as the WR24 in half PPR. Over the last three weeks, Vele has been the clear number-two receiver in Denver. Vele is second in routes run and second in yards per route run. Vele is the only wide receiver on the waiver wire worth grabbing.
Week Thirteen Waiver Wire Tight End
Jonnu Smith, Miami Dolphins (32% rostered)
Over the last two weeks, Jonnu Smith has been a fantasy monster at tight end. In week twelve, he had 9 catches for 87 yards and 1 touchdown. Having said that, he is still Jonnu Smith. If you need a tight end, grab him. Just don’t waste FAAB or your waiver priority to do so.
