If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning?
One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing badly because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options every week.
Washington Commanders Defense (29% owned) @ Dallas Cowboys
Last week, I told you Houston was a good play because the Cowboys are collapsing faster than their stadium. This week, I am doubling down against the Cowboys with the Commanders. The Cowboys are bottom ten in the big three categories that matter for fantasy football. They have the 9th most sacks, the 8th fewest points per game, and the most turnovers in football. And they are still starting Cooper Rush. I’m all in on Washington this week for fantasy.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defense (15% owned) @ New York Giants
If you can’t get the Commanders, the Tampa Bay Bucs are a pure match-up play. Their defense is not good, but their offense is good enough that they may not be on the field for very long. The Giants give up the 8th most sacks, the 5th fewest yards per play, and score the fewest points per game. At this point, they are actively tanking with Tommy DeVito at quarterback, so you might as well take advantage of this.
Chicago Bears Defense (52% owned) @ Minnesota Vikings Defense
This last pick is tough for me because I am a Bears fan. In no way do I think the Bears are winning this game, but some points should be considered. The Bears are 7th in turnovers, whereas the Vikings have given up the 5th most turnovers in football. They also have allowed the 9th most sacks. The Bears are a top-ten defense and Sam Darnold has been known to have comically bad games. The Vikings offensive line is reeling. If you’ve talked to me recently, you know I have no faith in the Bears. I still think this is a game where the defense puts up a respectable fantasy points total, even if they won’t win the game. I also think they are a great cheap DFS play this week.
