Fantasy Football Week 5 Starts & Sits of the Week!

2021 Dak Prescott Dallas Cowboys

Hey everyone, welcome back to the Big Daddy Drix Start/Sit Spectacular. I decided to get an early start on bye weeks last Saturday, my apologies for the absence. Thank you to Tony Martin for filling in admirably, make sure you read Tony’s Degenerate’s Gambit articles and listen to his podcast, THFantaC! Let us begin.

QB START OF THE WEEK: Dak Prescott, DAL @ PIT (ECR: 15, my rank: 9)

The matchup isn’t great, but Dallas has no running game to speak of and will therefore have to pass to win. Prescott is a good player with an elite WR in CeeDee Lamb and a consistently productive TE in Jake Ferguson. He should produce low-end QB1 numbers despite facing a good Pittsburgh defense.

OTHER QB STARTS:
Trevor Lawrence, JAX vs. IND (ECR: 13, my rank: 12)
QB SIT OF THE WEEK: Geno Smith, SEA vs. NYG (ECR: 10, my rank: 16)

Every team that has played the Lions so far this season has laid an egg the following week:

  • Rams lose 41-10 to Arizona in week 2
  • Buccaneers lose 26-7 to Denver in week 3
  • Cardinals lose 42-14 to Washington in week 4

I’m not saying Seattle loses to the Giants, but I am saying I expect a down game from the offense. I recommend sitting Geno for this reason.

RB START OF THE WEEK: Antonio Gibson, NE vs. MIA (ECR: 28, my rank: 20)

Patriots coach Jerod Mayo has said that Gibson will start over Rhamondre Stevenson on Sunday. Miami’s defense is banged up and just surrendered 31 points to a Tennessee team that cannot throw the ball. I expect Gibson to find success on the ground and in the passing game.

OTHER RB STARTS:
Chase Brown, CIN vs. BAL (ECR: 26, my rank: 22)
RB SIT OF THE WEEK: Javonte Williams, DEN vs. LV (ECR: 19, my rank: 27)

Williams hasn’t finished in the top 24 or scored more than 11.5 PPR points in any game this season. There is no reason to expect anything more than flex production out of him.

OTHER RB SITS:
Zack Moss, CIN vs. BAL (ECR: 20, my rank: 25)
WR START OF THE WEEK: Wan’Dale Robinson, NYG @ SEA (ECR: 29, my rank: 17)

Did you know that Robinson has the fifth-most targets in the league? It’s true! Malik Nabers is also out this week, opening up even more opportunities for the Giants’ slot receiver. Expect double-digit targets and a WR3 floor with a WR1 ceiling.

OTHER WR STARTS:
Tyreek Hill, MIA @ NE (ECR: 28, my rank: 21)
WR SIT OF THE WEEK: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, SEA vs. NYG (ECR: 24, my rank: 31)

See the above reasoning for Geno Smith being my sit of the week at QB.

OTHER WR SITS:
Zay Flowers, BAL @ CIN (ECR: 21, my rank: 29)
TE START OF THE WEEK: Tyler Conklin, NYJ vs. MIN in London (ECR: 13, my rank: 10)

Conklin is TE18 on the season without scoring a touchdown. He has also racked up 14 targets the past two weeks and is facing a defense in the Vikings that is deficient against opposing tight ends. This is the best Conk Spot of the season thus far.

OTHER TE STARTS:
Zach Ertz, WAS vs. CLE (ECR: 14, my rank: 12)
TE SIT OF THE WEEK: Cole Kmet, CHI vs. CAR (ECR: 12, my rank: 13)

Only three targets last week for Kmet as the shine has come off the Bears TE. Keenan Allen also returns to the lineup this Sunday. I’m avoiding Kmet in favor of options like the aforementioned Conklin, Tucker Kraft, or Pat Freiermuth.
