Fantasy Football Week 3 Starts & Sits of the Week!

Michael Pittman Indianapolis Colts

Well, it was an uneven week at Big Daddy Drix Enterprises. Our sit recommendations have been sterling, but our start suggestions have been significantly less. Complicating matters is the injury situation across the NFL, which is truly dire at the moment. Allow BDDE to guide you through the storm to safety in week 3. We can accomplish anything if we put our minds to it. In the wise words of Ryan Edgecomb, “We’re back.”

QB START OF THE WEEK: Derek Carr, NO vs. PHI (ECR: 14, my rank: 10)

Carr has begun the season extremely well, as he is one of only two QBs to post at least 200 yards and two TDs in both weeks 1 and 2 (Sam Darnold is the other, just as we all predicted of course). I also don’t trust Philly’s secondary as they just got torched by Kirk Cousins, who has about 1.25 usable feet right now. Ride the New Orleans wave until you can’t anymore.

OTHER QB STARTS:

Baker Mayfield, TB vs. DEN (ECR: 13, my rank: 8)

QB SIT OF THE WEEK: Brock Purdy, SF @ LAR (ECR: 12, my rank: 16)

I feel terrible for Jeff Krisko, but this is tremendous content. Purdy has one (1) healthy weapon this week and I do not believe he is a good enough player to overcome all the injuries surrounding him. San Fran probably still wins this game because the Rams are just as decimated, but don’t expect a massive statistical output from the 49ers’ signal caller.

OTHER QB SITS:

Jayden Daniels, WAS @ CIN (ECR: 8, my rank: 14)

RB START OF THE WEEK: Devin Singletary, NYG @ CLE (ECR: 27, my rank: 21)

The Browns have a good defense, yes, but they struggle more against the run than the pass. Singletary is the clear lead back on a team that can’t really throw the ball unless Malik Nabers does something dope, which will be more difficult against Denzel Ward than it was against Noah Igbinoghene and Michael Davis. Finally, the injury crisis has rendered the running back position toothless, making a running back in a bad offense an unfortunately appealing play.

OTHER RB STARTS:

Jerome Ford, CLE vs. NYG (ECR: 25, my rank: 23)
Najee Harris, PIT vs. LAC (ECR: 29, my rank: 24)

RB SIT OF THE WEEK: Rachaad White, TB vs. DEN (ECR: 18, my rank: 25)

Rachaad White sucks at running the ball, which unfortunately for him is the main aspect of playing running back. I don’t recommend starting him until he can prove himself to be better than Bucky Irving (he will not).

OTHER RB SITS:

Zack Moss, CIN vs. WAS (ECR: 21, my rank: 28)
D’Andre Swift, CHI @ IND (ECR: 24, my rank: 36)

WR START OF THE WEEK: Calvin Ridley, TEN vs. GB (ECR: 31, my rank: 21)

The former Falcon has performed thus far this season like he did when he was with Atlanta years ago. Green Bay’s defense doesn’t scare me and Will Levis has no one else to target. I expect WR2 production out of Ridley until further notice.

OTHER WR STARTS:

Tank Dell, HOU @ MIN (ECR: 26, my rank: 23)

WR SIT OF THE WEEK: Michael Pittman, IND vs. CHI (ECR: 24, my rank: NR)

This is a personal policy decision more than anything. Pittman is still the #1 WR for the Colts, but he popped up late in the week with an injury and hasn’t produced like himself in the past two games. He’s not healthy, so I’m staying away, simple as that.

OTHER WR SITS:

Stefon Diggs, HOU @ MIN (ECR: 21, my rank: 25)

TE START OF THE WEEK: Mike Gesicki, CIN vs. WAS (ECR: 13, my rank: 12)

The TE position sucks so much right now that I’m being forced to capitulate to the whims of my boss and suggest starting Gesicki. Tee Higgins is still not 100% and Washington’s defense is quite bad against the pass, so I expect more terrible griddy opportunities are forthcoming.

OTHER TE STARTS:

Pat Freiermuth, PIT vs. LAC (ECR: 14, my rank: 11)

TE SIT OF THE WEEK: Dalton Kincaid, BUF vs. JAX (ECR: 5, my rank: 14)

What are we doing here? Kincaid has six targets and nine fantasy points through two weeks. I understand you drafted him in the 4th/5th round, but continuing to roll the Buffalo tight end out there is an exercise in futility. He’s just not That Guy.

OTHER TE SITS:

Zach Ertz, WAS @ CIN (ECR: 12, my rank: 15)
