How to Win Your 2024 Fantasy Football Superflex Auction League (in 2 Easy Steps)

Welcome! I’m glad you found us: We are Football Absurdity, and we study auction/salary cap drafts more than anyone else. Heck, I’m mocking right now (it’s making it really hard to drive). We even mock and study superflex auctions and examine the market trends. Something you probably already know about superflex fantasy football auctions is that good information is dire: There’s not enough demand for the bigger sites to want to provide mocks. Heck, all the mock draft sites like Yahoo have to do is flick a switch to allow superflex fantasy football auction mocks, but they don’t. Why don’t they? Well I have a grand conspiracy theory as to why there are no public superflex mocks on the big sites and it goes like this: They are bad.

That’s where we come in. We mock superflex auctions, and post-mortem the data meticulously. The good news is that there is less variance in superflex auctions than regular ones. Eventually, everyone is going to run out of money. This leads to steals and deals for those who waited with a stack of cash. Waiting around with a decent chunk of change will always be a viable superflex auction strategy. Introducing extreme scarcity at the QB position means that position goes for a lot more. The more money going early, the sooner the market starts to cool and crash.

Because of this, a winning auction strategy can be simply derived based on one factor: Is your league correctly valuing the QB position? The top QBs should be going for around the same price as the top tier RBs and WRs. Think about it: You start 2 QBs just like you can start 2 RBs (in many leagues), but QBs score a lot more, are way more consistent, and get injured far less. So players like Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts should be going for at least $50. In many leagues, however, particularly newer ones, the QBs go for far less than that. So that’s a yes-or-no thing: Are QBs being correctly valuated by your superflex auction league? If not, scoop up two top ones and enjoy a scoring yield far about the price point.

But what about leagues that are correctly pricing QBs? The good news is: If people are paying up for QBs (a solid move), money is coming out of the pot even faster. This means there will be even more value as the market rapidly cools and even crashes. So you can confidently get a couple of great players at any position early, then wait and snipe values as they come up later.

Two-Step 2024 Fantasy Football Superflex Auction Strategy

It’s not even two steps, really, it’s two one-step plans. Even easier!

  1. If your league is not paying enough for QBs (top QBs should be going for similar or better prices as top RBs and WRs), get two top QBs. Then wait with the rest of your money to snipe discounts as they crop up to fill out the rest of your team.
  2. If your league IS paying enough for QBs, get two top WR/RBs you love and then wait with the rest of your money to snipe discounts as they crop up to fill the rest of your team.

That’s it! Go forth with this strategy to win your 2024 Fantasy Football Auction league.

But maybe you’re not fully clear on how this strategy works. Let me explain with an actual SF mock draft team we recently completed.

10 humans did a whole SF mock. Afterward, we put a poll on our Discord to see which team our viewers and readers thought was the strongest. Shout out to our Discord: Hop in, read the rules, then feel free to pepper us with fantasy football auction questions. We love it!

This team won the poll with 50% more votes than anyone else:

Our mocks always value QBs heavily, so this drafter went with above strategy #2: Get two top WRs/RBs then play the waiting game. They took Lamb and Chase for $80 total, then went on the hunt for value. And value, there was, as there always is in superflex auction drafts: Davante Adams for under $20. $26 for two starting running backs. $9 Deebo Samuel is insane. Note that they spent $7 for a backup QB: Always get a backup QB in superflex, the loss of that position during bye weeks or injury periods tanks entire fantasy seasons.

So, there it is: My heavily requested 2024 fantasy football superflex auction/salary cap draft strategy (one person requested it). If you want further clarification, hop into our Disccord linked above and hit us with those questions! Merry drafting!
