Hel-looo everybody and welcome back to the Football Absurdity start/sit article. I’m your host Walker Kelly here with my co-hosts… wait, sorry. I turned into Jeff for a moment there. My bad.
QB START OF THE WEEK: Jared Goff, DET @ CHI (ECR: 14, my rank: 11)
Everyone is so scared of Jared Goff on the road that they have forgotten who he’s playing. Chicago’s defense is not good and the Lions have already seen them once this season. I’m trusting Ben Johnson and Goff over Matt Eberflus and the Bears defense.
QB SIT OF THE WEEK: Jordan Love, GB @ NYG (ECR: 10, my rank: 13)
I am NOT beating the homer allegations this week. Green Bay should roll in a fairly low-scoring game on Monday night. I expect a heavy dose of the running game and therefore lower passing volume for Love.
RB START OF THE WEEK: Alexander Mattison, MIN @ LV (ECR: 26, my rank: 24)
Not the strongest recommendation of the Vikings back, but a recommendation nonetheless. Mattison is an average player in an average offense with a really good matchup. He profiles as a low-end RB2 with touchdown upside this week.
RB SIT OF THE WEEK: Raheem Mostert, MIA vs. TEN (ECR: 17, my rank: 30)
Tennessee has a great run defense and an awful pass defense. That means it’s Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle week. You should still start Achane because of his explosiveness, but Mostert is not averaging nearly the yards per carry. He’s a volatile flex play in my estimation.
WR START OF THE WEEK: Tyler Lockett, SEA @ SF (ECR: 32, my rank: 24)
I don’t care who starts at QB for Seattle. Lockett is going to burn the 49ers defense downfield at least once. Even noted 49ers fan Jeff Krisko agrees. That’s enough for me to put the Seahawks receiver in my lineups.
WR SIT OF THE WEEK: Rashee Rice, KC vs. BUF (ECR: 24, my rank: 26)
To be clear: I am not saying you have to bench Rashee Rice. He’s very good and has become a focal point of the offense in recent weeks. But that leads to more attention from defenses, and I expect Rice’s efficiency to dip as a result.
TE START OF THE WEEK: Dallas Goedert, PHI @ DAL (ECR: 16, my rank: 11)
The Eagles are typically a smart team, so I expect them to work Goedert back into the offense early and often to get him comfortable again. They have severely missed him while he was out injured. I think we witness some Dallas-on-Dallas crime on Sunday.
TE SIT OF THE WEEK: Isaiah Likely, BAL vs. LAR (ECR: 9, my rank: 16)
Likely is a talented player, but he hasn’t reached double-digit points once this season and his quarterback is questionable to play with an illness. He also only has eight targets over the past two games despite starting both of them. This ranking doesn’t make much sense to me.
