It’s that time of year once again! Football Absurdity will bring you a breakdown of every notable fantasy football-relevant player throughout July and August. Rachaad White finished 2022 as RB38 despite playing behind Leonard Fournette. With Fournette gone, leaving 262 touches vacated, many are looking at Rachaad White as a breakout candidate. They are doing this despite the fact that Rachaad White’s tape is so boring it could put someone in the middle of a meth binge to sleep. Let’s learn more!
Rachaad White ADP and AAV:
Average Draft Position: RB24, 64th overall
Average Auction Value: $10 (10 Teams), $13 (12 teams)

Rachaad White has only Chase Edmonds and Ke’Shawn Vaughn to compete for touches in 2023. Their quarterback is whoever wins the battle between Kyle Trask and Baker Mayfield, a situation which my high school gym teacher would refer to as a “dumb-off.” Whoever wins, it’s clear the Bucs aren’t going to be one of those teams who relies heavily on their passing game.
This has many in the fantasy community understandably excited about White in fantasy. I say, “understandably” even though I obviously disagree because these pieces of evidence logically point towards a breakout. I was even considering White for my teams at the start of this offseason.
Then I watched his tape.
Have you ever gotten into a long line and waited, and after a while you realize that you’re still the last one in line? It makes you feel a little irrationally upset, right? It does for me. If I get to the front of the line and there’s still no one behind me, I feel a bit mad that no one had to wait as long as me.
That’s Rashaad White’s fantasy outlook: He may be at the front of the line, but he’s still last.
2022 Rachaad White Fantasy Football Draft Strategy:
Rachaad White Salary Cap Value: $10 (10-Teams), $12 (12-teams)
Draft Ranking: RB27, 76th overall
I want to show you something. I went to Youtube, typed in “Rachaad White Highlights” and clicked on the first video with that title. This is what I got:
First play: Rachaad gets a red zone carry, hops around behind the line, goes down for a loss of 1.
Second play: Rachaad lines up wide and gets a screen, doesn’t make it back to the line of scrimmage.
Rachaad White.
Highlights.
…
Now, full disclosure, the subtitle of the video is “Every Run and Target in 2022,” which completely contradicts the definition of the word “highlights” in a way that makes my brain ache. But it still fits my point: There is nothing particularly special about White, he will be a lame duck ball carrier in a wounded duck offense.
I see him being bantered around in zero-RB snake draft discussions (or, as we are calling this strategy in auction leagues, Gyro Draft). I would much rather have any of the other backs going around White’s ADP: Miles Sanders, J.K. Dobbins, Alexander Mattison, James Conner, heck even Javonte Williams. They’ve all shown flashes of greatness, however brief.
Best Case Scenario:
I’m wrong and that event occurs whenever a pessimist is wrong: Good things happen. Rachaad White takes it to the next level and perhaps finishes as a high-end RB2.
Worst Case Scenario:
White sucks, the Bucs offense sucks and implodes upon itself faster than a business selling Marmaduke NFTs. I tweet “I told you so” @ing no one but still you feel directly burned. Call me Shakira, because I say those clips don’t lie.
