Chase Brown 2023 Draft Prospect Fantasy Football Breakdown

Chase Brown, Illinois (5’11”, 205)

What Scouts Say:

23 year old rookie who was in college for 5 years, didn’t get over 1k yards until his years 4 and 5. Good receiver, was a three down back for his last two years with plenty of catches. Strong change of direction and breakaway speed. 20+ touches in every game this season. Bad pass blocker, fumbles too much, and not as powerful as his frame might indicate.

What We Saw:
Tony:

Chase Brown has pop, speed, and vision. Chase Brown also fumbles, can’t pass block, and lacks the strength to be a strong inside the tackles runner. He had a tremendous workrate in college and comes into the league with a significant amount of tread on the tires. He’s probably best suited as a backup player or part of a committee, but could be an injury away from leading a backfield and being a useful fantasy asset. He has the tools that would lead you to believe that some team will see enough in him to give him some burn, but he’s got some shortcomings in a lot of different areas that could keep him from getting on the field enough to be a weekly play.

Shane:

Pretty decent runner who was a master of none. Good hands and tracking ability. Only really had one move to win and that was a burst up a hole, so we’ll see where he develops. Blocking was below average and gets taken down relatively easily. Nice late round guess in a deep class.

Player Comparison:

Kenyon Drake/Better Chase Edmonds

Grade: Early 3rd round Dynasty pick
