The Jaguars had one of the most disastrous head coaching situations in recent history last season with Urban Meyer. Now, they’ve turned the page and turned to Doug Pederson to help run Trent Baalke’s Island of Overpaid Toys. They spent beaucoup bucks in free agency on fantasy football-eligible guys like Christian Kirk and Evan Engram and will have Travis Etienne back, as well. So, it stands to reason that they only drafted one fantasy football-eligible player in the draft, and did so without taking him with a premium pick. What can we expect from Snoop Conner in 2022?

TALENT
Conner is mostly a plodder and backed up Jerrion Ealy this year at Ole Miss (who I’m not a big fan of, anyway). So, that probably colors my opinion of him. But, the consensus around him declaring is… confusing. He hasn’t carried the load in the NCAA at all, and he hasn’t done much to impress on tape. It seems like he has a one-way ticket to the practice squad if James Robinson and Travis Etienne are healthy. Ultimately, Conner is a one-speed back with poor vision who relies on blocking to open a hole for him to run through. He struggles to setup blocks, so he’s a see hole, hit hole runner with very little wiggle or creativity.
2022 OPPORTUNITY
If James Robinson and Travis Etienne are both healthy, there isn’t really a path forward for Snoop Conner to do a whole lot. If James Robinson and/or Travis Etienne aren’t healthy, then the Jags likely bring in another running back to help split the load with Conner, relegating Conner to the RB2 role, at best, if everything breaks right for him. I earnestly don’t see a path forward to more than 100 touches, given his talent level and the situation surrounding the Jags’ running back room.
