If you’re reading this (thank you!), that means you’re still alive, baby! If you’re not still fighting for a Chip, I guess you might be reading this (thank you!) because you’re curious if Erin is going to beat me again this year. Well, let’s recap. Shall we?! Last week, we both told you to avoid Taysom Hill BEFORE he got all Covided. Erin correctly told you to start Rasaad Penny over Antonio Gibson. And we both told you to start Russell Gage (3.9 HPPR points) over A.J. Green (3.8 HPPR points). All totaled up, Erin now leads our annual contest 29-26. It’s not looking good for me, but let’s see how Week 17 shakes out.
Saquon Barkley at Chicago or Devin Singletary vs. Atlanta
Bryan’s take: I really like Saquon. I do. He’s an incredible, all-world talent, playing on a team with no quarterback, and seemingly no offensive line. Singletary isn’t a particularly special player, but give me the guy on the much better offense playing a team with a terrible defense. Start Devin Singletary in Week 17.
Erin’s take: Saquon Barkley reminds me of Charles Barkley, and I know he was a great basketball player. Are they related? Is Saquon destined for greatness? Devin Singletary sounds like a character in a murder mystery, who nobody likes, and everyone thinks is the murderer, but in the end, you find out it’s someone else. Still, nobody likes him. Start Charles, I mean, Saquon Barkley in Week 17.
Christian Kirk at Dallas or Amon-Ra St. Brown at Seattle
Bryan’s take: Amon-Ra has been a revelation for the late-blooming Lions. He even put up numbers with Tim Boyle at quarterback. Kirk has been good too, but the production has been erratic. They’ll both get plenty of opportunities, but I think St. Brown does a lot more with his. Start Amon-Ra St. Brown in Week 17.
Erin’s take: I just don’t like the name, Christian. I never had a good experience with any student named Christian. Amon-Ra St. Brown brings me back to those Night at the Museum movies. My kids loved those movies. Ok, I like them too. They’re just wholesome, family fun. Start Amon-Ra St. Brown in Week 17.
Mike Gesicki at Tennessee or Gerald Everett vs. Detroit
Bryan’s take: After a fairly hot start to the season, Gesicki has been… meh. He hasn’t scored a TD since Week 7, and has only cracked 50 receiving yards twice since then. Everett isn’t exactly dynamic, but he has scored a TD in 3 of the last 5 games. Tight end stinks, but you have to start one. So go with one that’s been scoring. Start Gerald Everett in Week 17.
Erin’s take: Mike Gesicki is a tough name. He sounds like he should have been a hockey player, and hockey players can give and take beatings. Gerald Everett sounds like a softie who wears footed pajamas to bed. It’s the exact opposite of the toughness you get from Mike Gesicki. Start Mike Gesicki in Week 17.
