If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning? One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options for week eight.
Dallas Cowboys (51% rostered) @ Minnesota Vikings
It is a spooky world when I look at a Mike McCarthy-led Dallas Cowboys defense and cannot help but notice how good they are. And the Cowboys’ defense is good. They are tied for the third-most turnovers in the NFL, despite playing one fewer game than most of the NFL because of their bye. The Cowboys’ defense has scored the fourth-most fantasy points this season, despite playing one fewer game. Dallas is just a good defense right now and while Minnesota isn’t the best match-up, I’m always a fan of riding the hot hand.
Washington WTF’s (35% rostered) @ Denver Broncos
I’m not gonna lie, I’m not a fan of the Washington defense this year. I had high hopes that they would be a dominant unit, but they have been a huge disappointment. But, I am a fan of starting the defense that is playing the Denver Broncos. Denver has given up the tenth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses. The Broncos have also scored the ninth-fewest points this season. The reason I especially like Washington this week is that Denver has allowed the fifth-most sacks this year and Washington has Chase Young. This should be a game that has a decent floor, with the potential for some sacks to pad your scoring.
Seattle Seahawks (22% rostered) @ Jacksonville Jaguars
I like Seattle’s defense even less than I like Washington’s, but the Jacksonville Jaguars are an absolute laughingstock. Offensively, they do nothing well. Jacksonville has allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing teams, thanks to the fourth-most turnovers, the fifth-fewest third-downs, they’ve run the third-fewest offensive plays, and have scored the sixth-fewest points in the NFL. The Jaguars are such an embarrassment that it took Jon Gruden’s racist emails being leaked to distract us from how awful they truly are. If there is one betting line I am putting my hands all over with absolute confidence this NFL season, it is betting against the Urban Meyer-led Jacksonville Jaguars.
