We’re over halfway through the fantasy football season, and you’re tired of looking at your redraft fantasy football league. That’s fine, and that’s understandable. You’re 2-6 because of injuries, COVID chicanery coaches not using players the way you think they should. No matter, that’s why we have daily fantasy sports. Here are some daily fantasy football (FanDuel) options to help you fit a bunch of stars into your lineup. Here are some bargain-basement value plays for week nine.
Daily Fantasy Football (FanDuel) Value QB ($7k or less):
Derek Carr at Las Vegas ($7,000)
He played disastrously in equally disastrous weather last week, throwing just 24 times for 112 yards and a touchdown. Let that one go, and focus on the three-straight 20+ fantasy days against Buffalo, KC, and Tampa Bay. All three of these teams rank sixteenth-or-worse in fantasy points per game to QBs, with KC and Tampa Bay landing in the bottom-ten.
This week, Carr gets his best matchup since the Saints in week two, so I am going to roll him back out there. The Chargers have allowed at least 17 fantasy points to each quarterback they’ve faced this year except Teddy Bridgewater. L.A. might be without Joey Bosa due to a concussion, and with Bosa, they allowed five touchdowns with just one interception to opposing QBs in the two games since their bye. He struggled last week but should find DFS paydirt this week.
Additional Options: Tua Tagovailoa @ARI ($6.7k), Jake Luton v HOU ($6.5k)
Daily Fantasy Football (FanDuel) Value RB ($5k or less):
Jordan Howard at Arizona ($4,500)
Myles Gaskin went on IR with an MCL injury, DeAndre Washington just arrived in Miami, and Matt Breida is out for Sunday. That leaves one man standing to get the bulk of the Dolphins’ snaps this weekend. That man is Jordan Howard… probably. He performed well in his time in Chicago and Philadelphia but disappeared entirely this season outside of the goal line. That is the most praise I will heap on him as he is dead to me. But, he’s min priced and likely headed to a double-digit day, so you could do a lot worse.
Additional Options: Troymaine Pope v LAS ($4.5k)–DOUBTFUL (check if playing before slotting him in your lineup!)
Daily Fantasy Football (FanDuel) Value WR ($5k or less):
Nelson Agholor at L.A. Chargers ($5,000)
One thing we are reticent to do as a fantasy community is giving a player a pass for something that is out of their control. It’s a sixteen-game season, so preaching patience might cause you to end up in the dumpster. With that in mind, I’m preaching patience with Nelson Agholor after last week’s cratering. He played in Cleveland last week, which had some of the worst wind conditions I can remember seeing; a field goal was blocked out of the air. Both teams went to the ground and abandoned the passing game. I am going to continue to roll with Deep Shot Nelson taking on the Chargers. L.A. has allowed four WRs to get at least 70 yards or a touchdown against them in the last two games.
Additional Options: Quintez Cephus @MIN ($4.6k), K.J. Hamler @ATL ($4.8k)
Daily Fantasy Football (FanDuel) Value TE ($5k or less):
Logan Thomas versus N.Y. Giants ($5,000)
I know his targets look like a Moseley Collins ad, but Logan Thomas should do well this weekend. He has at least four targets in every game this season, and he’s notched exactly that many in five-straight games. In the last two games, he’s gone 3/42/1 and 4/60/1. The Giants started off the year strong against opposing tight ends, but over the last three weeks, things have fallen apart. They gave Logan Thomas 4/42/1 three games ago, Richard Rodgers 6/85 two weeks a, and Gronk 4/41/1 last week. He’s virtually guaranteed at least four targets, which is more than I can say about… Mike Gesicki. Ugh.
Additional Options: Albert Okwuegbunam @ATL ($5k), Irv Smith v DET ($4.6k)
