We’ve hit week seven, and the halfway point to most fantasy football leagues. We’ve also seemingly reached the ceremonial drop-dead point for a lot of teams in fantasy football leagues. Owners are starting to give up, and free agent pools have become more robust. There are limited numbers of roster slots in a league, and more people giving up means more people on the wire. That means you profit!
As always, these fantasy football sleeper wide receivers are available in at least 50% of Yahoo! leagues, with one deep dive available in at least 90% of leagues. As always, check Waleed’s Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet, but if you can’t find those wide receivers, check out these week seven fantasy football sleeper wide receivers!
Week Seven WR Sleeper:
Allen Lazard versus Oakland (32% Owned)
This one should be nice and easy since Lazard doesn’t really have a lot under his belt so far. The second-year player caught 100% of his targets last season (one target, one catch, seven yards), and he has just 38 offensive snaps this year. The first targets of his second season came last week, where he hauled in four-of-five targets for 65 yards and a score. Why do we care for Alien Lizard so much? Well, let’s take a look at the Packers wide receiver situation. Davante Adams (dead). Geronimo Allison (dead). Marquez Valdes-Scantling (probably dead). You can only hype Jake Kumerow so much, and when you consider what the rest of the team did last week (drop, drop, drop, drop), Lazard gets a boost. He gets a hapless Oakland pass defense that yields the seventh-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season. They’ve yielded at least 70 yards or a touchdown to eight different players in their five games this season. Lazard is likely to be among the leaders in Packers targets this weekend, just don’t tell David Icke.
Week Seven WR Sleeper:
Marquise Goodwin at Washington (18% Owned)
Call me crazy, call me a homer, but I am digging into the 49ers passing game this week. They cross the country and are likely to leave Deebo Samuel at home, so I’ll take a shot on the wide receiver with the most air yards for the 49ers. Dante Pettis has more targets lately, but with the short pass game that usually goes to Pettis and Deebo, I’ll go with Goodwin’s deep shots. He was a few inches away from pulling off a deep reception last week and could haul one in this week against a pathetic Washington secondary. Washington allows the fifth-most fantasy points to wide receivers. Deep threats like Devin Smith, Taylor Gabriel, and DeVante Parker all had double-digit fantasy days against Washington. Of course, now that I’ve said this, it’ll be something stupid like Kendrick Bourne getting the requisite 49ers wide receiver touchdown.
Week Seven WR Sleeper:
Adam Humphries versus L.A. Chargers (5% Owned)
A lot of people want to hype up that Corey Davis had four targets once Ryan Tannehill entered the game last week, but they also want to ignore that Adam Humphries also had four targets from Tannehill. You can take advantage of the new opportunity from Humphries, who has 12 targets in his last two games. Humphries fits what Tannehill can do better than Davis can, and Davis doesn’t fit down here in the sub-10% ownership range. Don’t forget that Tannehill spent years peppering Jarvis Landry and forgetting how to use DeVante Parker, and ask yourself who is who on this offense. The Chargers aren’t a great matchup, but a likely overwhelmed Tannehill will be dinking and dunking it to Humphries, in what will be a good PPR floor play for Humphries.
