Week Seven Defenses Fantasy Football – Where the Buffalo Roam

If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning?

One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options on a weekly basis.

Week 7 Fantasy Football Defense:
Kansas City DEF (22% owned) @ Denver

Kansas City has lost two games in a row. The odds of them losing three in a row seem marginal. In week seven, they will be playing a Denver team that has looked lost for most of the season. If Kansas City gets out to a big lead, I think Joe Flacco will likely spend half of the game throwing picks to the Kansas City secondary. Playing Kansas City’s defense in week seven is more about playing against a mediocre Denver Broncos team.

Week 7 Fantasy Football Defense:
Detroit DEF (5% owned) @ Minnesota

The question you need to ask yourself about Kirk Cousins is do you think the week six version of him is the quarterback we will see in week seven or do you think the lackluster performances we have seen the previous five games are his true form? If you think he’s finally figured it out, you should probably not grab Detroit. If you believe that Cousins is bad, then can I interest you in a shiny, new Detroit Lions defense? They’ve already gotten their annual “refs screw the Lions” game out of the way, so their only real obstacle is Kirk Cousins, which we’ve already established you aren’t worried about.

Week 7 Fantasy Football Defense:
Dallas DEF (54% owned) @ Philadelphia

Honestly, this was a tough week for finding good defensive streamers. If the first two aren’t available, Dallas against the Eagles is a decent hail-mary play for the bye week. The Cowboys are on a three-game skid, but it seems very unlikely they lose four in a row. The Eagles have been inconsistent all year and are facing the Cowboys on the road. While I don’t love this match-up, it is preferable to most waiver wire options for streaming defenses.
