Week Four Defense Streamers – Charge!!!!!

If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning?

One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options on a weekly basis.

Tennessee DEF (42% owned) @ Atlanta

Tennessee has quietly been a solid fantasy defense early in the season. They are top ten in fantasy points among fantasy defenses. The only bad game they’ve had was in week three when they played Jacksonville on a short week. This week, they will have plenty of rest when they face an Atlanta Falcons team that looks like a tire fire. Atlanta has given up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing defenses, so as long as Matt Ryan insists on throwing to opposing defenses, Tennessee will be a solid week four fantasy defense.

Houston DEF (47% owned) @ Carolina

With Cam Newton dead and a 1-2 Panthers team on the verge of collapse, I can’t think of a more exciting defense to start in week four than the Houston Texans. What is Kyle Allen going to do when Jadaveon Clowney J.J. Watt comes barreling down on him? Nothing but join Cam on the sidelines. We may be nearing the end of the Riverboat Ron era in Carolina and Houston could play a big part in bringing it to an end.

Pittsburgh DEF (32% owned) @ Cincinnati

This might be my favorite match-up of the week. Pittsburgh is in full-on desperation mode, but their defense isn’t actually that bad. Outside of an abysmal week one performance against the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh has been a solid fantasy defense. This week, they are playing a Cincinnati Bengals team that has given up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing defenses and whose top two offensive weapons are either hobbled or dead. If you need a defensive streamer in week four, Pittsburgh should have a high floor and high ceiling.
