As we gear up to the start of the NFL season, Football Absurdity is going to bring you a comprehensive breakdown of every notable player that will be available in fantasy football drafts.  When you don’t see us talking about Christine Michael or Mike Davis, don’t get mad at us for neglecting your favorite sleeper.  Get mad at yourself for having bad taste in football players.  We are only focusing on the top-rated players in standard scoring and points per game leagues.

With my player profiles, I’ve only decided to go back to look at their fantasy scoring for three years.  This time frame gives a better understanding to the fantasy owner who has shown a strong consistency. One year wonders and flash-in-the-pans happen every season. However, the top flight players always remain.  I’ve also added a chart for their usage over that time span.  We will try to determine, based on those two factors, where the best quarterback value lies.

Aaron Rodgers ADP and AAV

Standard: 3rd among QBs, 49th overall

PPR: 3rd among QBs, 54th overall

Aaron Rodgers Average Auction Value (AAV) $200 Budget: $23

Stats:

FANTASY SCORING

Rank Total Points PPG Rank PPG
2018 6th 312.5 7th 19.5
2017 29th 129.5 91st 18.5
2016 1st 380 1st 23.8

Overview:  Last year, Rodgers broke free from his injured filled 2017 season. Throwing only two interceptions while having the highest amount of passing yards in his career. Rodgers 12:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio is just obscene. However, 25 touchdowns is his lowest total since he was given the starting nod in 2008, outside of his injury-plagued seasons. His QB7 finish is the lowest he has been outside of those seasons he was hurt. Rodgers did score 20+ points in 10 of 16 games with nearly a brand new receiving corps, and the turmoil with head coach Mike McCarthy was a distraction correlating into a career low completion percentage.

Strategy: Football Absurdity’s  Auction Value ($200 Budget): $12

Aaron Rodgers is constantly in the top five when he has been healthy since becoming the starting quarterback back in 2008. He is a HOF and will now have major distractions removed as Mcarthy is gone. In his place will be offensive-minded Matt LaFleur. LaFleur was under the tutelage of Sean McVay. Dan Quinn, and Kyle Shanahan. Rodgers’ touchdowns should improve and so should the accuracy. However, those interceptions will as well. Right now Rodgers is going as the third quarterback off the board and that should be where you target him. Rodgers won’t fall far below this mark, so if you want him, you will have to pull the trigger.

Best Case Scenario: Rodgers continues to be a top-three quarterback

Worst Case Scenario: Rodgers shows his age (35-years) or is injured and is out for a significant amount of time.
