Week Sixteen Defense Fantasy Football – How ‘Bout Them Boys

If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning?

One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing bad because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options on a weekly basis.

Miami Dolphins  DEF (26% owned)

The Miami Dolphins playoff picture just became a little more desperate.  If they don’t win out, they have no shot at the playoffs.  This week, The Dolphins are playing a Jacksonville Jaguars team that has given up the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing defenses.  The Dolphins secondary is great at getting interceptions and the Jaguars are great at giving them.  The Dolphins are one of the best streaming option for week 16.

Dallas DEF (40% owned)

The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the more impressive defenses over the season.  It just doesn’t always translate to fantasy.  This week, they are playing a Tampa Bay defense that has given up the 6th most fantasy points to opposing defenses.   Tampa Bay is a disaster and the Cowboys are looking to secure their position in the playoffs.  I fully expect, not only the Cowboys defense, but their fantasy defense to show very well in week 16.

Kansas City DEF (22% owned)

My third defensive streaming option is more of an upside play.  The Chiefs are playing a Seattle team that gives up the 10th fewest fantasy points to opposing defenses.  However, I think this game will end up being an outlier for the Seahawks.  Seattle has been winning by grinding out the clock and running the football.  If the Chiefs are able to get to a big lead early, this will force Seattle to push to keep up, which could lead to a lot of turnovers.  If you don’t have a lot of streaming options in your championship week or you need a home run, I think the Kansas City Chiefs defense is a solid gamble.
