Fantasy Football Jameis Winston Overview: Upon first glance, you might wonder why someone would want to draft Jameis Winston. Over a three year career, his points per game have gone down each year. It looks like Jameis is getting dumber both on and off the field. But a closer inspection shows that last year, when Jameis Winston threw the ball more than 30 times per game, he averaged 24.9 points per game. When he gets to sling it, he produces as well as anyone.
Fantasy Football Jameis Winston Strategy: The strategy for Jameis is pretty easy. Draft him late. His ADP is extremely low for the simple reason that he will miss three games next season. The fact is, at least a quarter of the players taken before him will also miss at least three games. Maybe they won’t be suspended, but players miss football games. At least with Jameis, we know what games he is missing. I am sure this doesn’t make sense from a science standpoint, but the truth is people are overcompensating for his draft position right now. For context, the number 22 quarterback is Baker Mayfield, who right now isn’t slated to start any games.
Ceiling: If he throws the ball a lot, Jameis could end the season as a top-five quarterback in the games he plays. The question is, will he be allowed to?
