Well, winning the Super Bowl sure made it easy for the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. They have a ton of quality players locked up for a long time. So far in this exercise, they’re the first franchise I had to trim the fat down to sixteen (my initial count had twenty-four players). Obviously, winning the Super Bowl is made easier by a quality roster. My job is made even easier by the Eagles trading for Michael Bennett for a song. He’s made it into this list, mostly because Philadelphia is after Seattle alphabetically. Who are the other fifteen players the Eagles protect in a disaster draft? This was, surprisingly, the hardest one so far. Not surprisingly, there’s a lot of up-front talent here, as the trench battle is the clear strength of the Philadelphia Eagles roster. The scary part for the rest of the league is that only two of these players are prospective free agents after next season, and six of them are locked up through at least 2020. Zach Ertz gets a maybe because I couldn’t have twelve freaking players in the no doubters. I told you, the Eagles are just too good for this world. Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod are high-quality secondary players and locked up for years and years. Foles is protected to flip to the Arches or Conquistadors after their draft. Jay Ajayi gets a maybe because his lower leg could literally fall off the rest of his body at any point.
