2025 Fantasy Football Week 9 Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet: Boutte Call

Week eight of the 2025 NFL season, and everyone is out! Lamar Jackson? Out! Drake London? Out! Cam Skattebo? Dead! With everyone out, you need to figure out who will be IN your lineup.  I’ll provide you with the best options available on the wire. If I don’t mention someone you think I should be talking about, please know that there are many reasons why I may have overlooked them. Maybe they are owned in most leagues. Maybe they are so bad that I don’t even consider them. Perhaps it’s because your opinions are not trustworthy. After all, you are here. So, let us examine the top week five waiver wire players for your championship run…

Week Nine Waiver Wire Quarterbacks
Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals (54% rostered)

There are no quarterbacks left on the waiver wire worth a damn, so it is time to go in the wayback machine and grab ourselves an old man Flacco. In week eight, Joe Flacco had 223 passing yards and two touchdowns. He even ran for 14 yards and a rushing touchdown. Time is a flat circle, and Joe Flacco is good again.  Since being traded to the Bengals, Joe Flacco has thrown eight touchdowns in 3 games. You aren’t going to do better than that.

Week Nine Waiver Wire Running Backs
Tyrone Tracy Jr., New York Giants (41% rostered)

Cam Skattebo is out for the season, which makes Tyrone Tracy the best running back on the Giants. Tracy had 53 all-purpose yards in week 9. If you need a running back, Tracy should be a priority add. Even if you don’t need a running back, grab him.

Zonavan “Bam” Knight, Arizona Cardinals (18% rostered)

The Cardinals are coming off a bye week, but Omarion Hampton is still on IR. In the two weeks before the bye, Knight has a 48% snap share and 48% of the rushing attempts. Knight appears to be the lead back here, and a running back who is going to get 15 touches per game is worth their weight in gold in week 9.

Tank Bigsby, Philadelphia Eagles (33% rostered)

Monitor the Saquon Barkley injury. Right now, it looks like Saquon will be fine, but if he can’t play, Bigsby needs to be a priority add.

Week Nine Waiver Wire Wide Receivers
Troy Franklin, Denver Broncos (38% rostered)

Troy Franklin broke open NFL lineups with six catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns, finishing as the WR1 on Sunday. Over the last three weeks, Troy Franklin has led the Broncos in targets per routes run, while being second on the team for routes run. Franklin is the clear number two receiver on the Broncos, which adds value to his position. Just don’t expect him to blow up this way again, as he no longer gets to play the Dallas Cowboys.

Kayshon Boutte, New England Patriots (25% rostered)

In week eight, Kayson Boutte had three catches for 75 yards and one touchdown. Boutte is WR18 on the season in total points and WR29 in points per game. Boutte is the definition of a boom/bust guy, but he absolutely deserves to be rostered.

Xavier Hutchinson/Jayden Higgins, Houston Texans (4%/23% rostered)

With Nico Collins out, Xavier Hutchinson and Jayden Higgins had outstanding games. Don’t go chasing an anomaly. Hard pass.

Week Nine Waiver Wire Tight Ends
Mason Taylor, New York Jets (27% rostered)

In week eight, Mason Taylor had five catches for 34 yards and one touchdown. In the Jets’ only win, Mason Taylor was still just kinda meh. He is the best tight end option on the waiver wire, but that doesn’t make him a good choice.
