Week thirteen of the 2024 NFL season is complete and we are in crunch time. The pickings are slim, the stakes are high, and the only way you make the playoffs is the waiver wire. The waiver wire exists to save you from the cruel and unforgiving fantasy football gods. I’m going to provide you with the best options available. If I don’t mention someone you think I should be talking about, just know there are many reasons why I overlooked them. Maybe they are owned in most leagues. Perhaps they are so bad I don’t even consider them. Maybe it’s because your opinions cannot be trusted. After all, you are here. So let us examine our best week twelve waiver wire players for your championship run…
Week Fourteen Waiver Wire Quarterback
Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers (5% rostered)
If you are surprised to see me recommending Bryce Young, know that I am too. But the last two weeks have seemed like a turning point for Young’s development, with 561 passing yards and 3 TDs during that span. While there are better quarterbacks on the waiver wire, if you are looking ahead to the fantasy playoffs, Bryce Young has two top-five fantasy match-ups.
Week Fourteen Waiver Wire Running Backs
Isaac Guerendo, San Francisco 49ers (6% rostered)
This one is pretty simple. Christian McCaffrey is likely done for the year. Jordan Mason has an ankle injury. So you grab the next Shanahan running back and hope he does what all the other Shanahan running backs do. He has two games with over five carries this season and has at least 85 rushing yards in both games.
Chris Rodriguez Jr, Washington Commanders (1% rostered)
Last week I told you to grab the wrong Commander’s backup running back. This week, I’m hoping I get it right with Chris Rodriguez Jr. In week thirteen, Rodriguez had 13 carries for 94 yards and 1 touchdown. More importantly, he had 13 carries to Brian Robinson’s 16 carries. With Austin Ekeler on IR, Rodriguez could be a solid bench player if you can’t get Guerdano.
Week Fourteen Waiver Wire Wide Receiver
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Tennessee Titans (18% rostered)
Over the last three weeks, there has been no receiver with a higher reception-to-touchdown rate. Westbrook-Ikhine has 7 catches and 4 touchdowns in his last three games. While the touchdowns rate is unsustainable, since Hopkins was traded NWI is leading the Titans in routes run and is second in yards per route run.
Week Fourteen Waiver Wire Tight End
Jonnu Smith, Miami Dolphins (35% rostered)
At this point, I am astounded that Jonnu Smith is still on waivers. In week 13, he had 10 catches for 113 yards. Over his last three games, Jonnu Smith has 25 catches for 301 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jonnu Smith is doing so well, that I don’t even mind burning my waiver priority on him.
