If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know it is essential to winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s a necessary part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning?
One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing badly because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options every week.
Los Angeles Chargers DEF (52% owned) @ Tennesee Titans
The Los Angeles Chargers have the best fantasy matchup of the week. The Titans have the 2nd most turnovers, the 5th fewest yards per play, and the 3rd fewest drives ending in a score. Moreover, the Chargers have a really good defense. They have the 10th most turnovers, the 9th most sacks, and allow the fewest points per game. This is why they are the DST5 on the season. Frankly, I’m amazed their roster rate is as low as it is.
Chicago Bears DEF (49% owned) @ New England Patriots DEF
This one was a tough one for me to pick. The fact is, the Bears do have an elite defense. They are the DST6 on the season, have the 4th most turnovers, and the 5th fewest points allowed. The worry is that the organization is in turmoil, so there is some inherent risk for this. The reason why I am going with this option is the New England Patriots are really bad on offense. They have the 3rd fewest first downs, the 3rd most sacks, and the 3rd fewest points scored per game. They are not good and this match up does not favor them at all.
New York Giants DEF (6% owned) @ Carolina Panthers
This is a pure match-up play. While the Giants do have the most sacks in football, they are pretty average on defense everywhere else. Luckily, the Carolina Panthers are really bad on offense. They have the 3rd most turnovers, 2nd fewest first downs, and score the 4th fewest points per game. They are a bad offense and the odds of them winning two games in a row are astronomical. If you can’t get the Chargers or the Bears, the Giants are a solid streaming option.
