Streaming defenses is one of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing badly because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options weekly.
Los Angeles Chargers DEF (19% owned) @ Denver Broncos
The Chargers defense is my favorite streaming option of the week. I think this match-up has a very high floor because I expect this to be the lowest-scoring game of the week and Vegas odds makers agree. The Broncos have the 3rd most turnovers, the 2nd fewest first downs, and the 7th fewest drives ending in a score. On the other side of the ball, the Chargers’ defense has the 10th most turnovers in football, despite playing one less game than most teams. They also have allowed the 2nd fewest drives to end in a score and allow the fewest average points per game. Even if there aren’t a lot of sacks and turnovers, I also expect there to not be a lot of points scored in this game.
Buffalo Bills DEF (46% owned) @ New York Jets
The Bills are one of the best teams in football. The Jets are the most dysfunctional. The Jets just fired their defensive-minded head coach because the offense is not scoring enough points, but they kept the offensive coordinator. The Jets have the 6th fewest drives ending in a score and have scored the 8th fewest points per game. On the other side of the ball, the Bills have the 5th most turnovers and have allowed the 9th fewest drives to end in a score. I think we are about to see a complete Jets collapse and I’m here for it.
Atlanta Falcons DEF (8% owned) @ Carolina Panthers
This is a pure match-up play. The Carolina Panthers are giving up the second most fantasy points to opposing defenses. They have the 2nd most turnovers, the 5th fewest first downs on offense, the 4th fewest drives ending in a score, and the 4th fewest points per game. Give me the defense that is playing an offense that can’t score points every time.
