If you read my article on playing the waiver wire game, you know that it is an essential part of winning your fantasy football league. If you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for? I just told you it’s an essential part of winning your fantasy football league! Why do you hate winning?
One of the best ways to maximize your weekly scoring is to stream defenses. This strategy is simple – we aren’t as concerned about good defenses, so much as finding defenses that are playing terrible offenses. Bad offenses are more likely to keep playing badly because if they knew how to be good, they would already be good. Because of this flawless logic, I will be pointing out the best streaming options weekly.
Chicago Bears D/ST(45% owned) @ Indianapolis Colts
My Editor-in-Chief is probably going to make some snide comment about my being a giant homer (Travis is actually only 5’10” and 202 lbs) here, but the Bears are my favorite fantasy streaming defense on the week. Their schedule over the next four weeks (Colts, Rams, Panthers, and Jaguars) looks very favorable. The Colts have the second most turnovers in football and are playing defense with the third most turnovers. Right now, the Colts have the highest amount of drives ending in a turnover. The Bears have a shot at being DEF1 on the week, which shouldn’t be a surprise since they are already DEF2 on the season.
Las Vegas Raiders D/ST (27% owned) @ Carolina Panthers
I am surprised I am saying this, but if you can’t get the Bears, the Las Vegas Raiders are probably the next-best streaming option for week three. Every year there is a team that is so bad you want to start any defense against them. This year, the Carolina Panthers are out to an early start. Through two games, the Panthers are averaging 3 sacks, 2 turnovers, and 6.5 points per game. They are so bad they have benched Bryce Young for Andy Dalton. If the hopes to salvage your season rests on the red hair of Andy Dalton, your season is already lost. If the Raiders are available on your waiver wire, grab them.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers D/ST (33% owned) @ Denver Broncos
There are a lot of reasons I could use to explain why the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a strong streaming option in week three. I could tell you that the Broncos only average 13 points per game, the third-worst scoring rate in football. I could tell you the Broncos offense leads the NFL in turnovers. But the reason you should start the Bucs against the Broncos is simply Bo Nix. Bo Nix is bad at football and I will bet on any team playing against him.
