Week twelve of the 2023 NFL season is over and now we are on to lucky number week thirteen. It has to be lucky because everyone you have ever loved is dead. What is the worst that can happen? We are late enough in the season that even the waiver wire can only do so much. If you were not active before, it may be too little, too late. I’m going to provide you with the best options available. If I don’t mention someone whom you think I should be talking about, just know there are many reasons why I overlooked them. Maybe they are owned in most leagues. Maybe they are so bad I don’t even consider them. Maybe it’s because your opinions cannot be trusted. After all, you are here. So let us examine who our best week thirteen waiver wire players for your championship run are…
Week Thirteen Waiver Wire QBs
Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh Steelers (12% rostered)
Mike Tomlin took a page from the South Park and blamed Canada for the Steelers’ offensive woes. Coincidentally, Kenny Pickett threw for over 200 yards for the first time in over a month. He didn’t throw for any touchdowns, but baby steps. In week 13, Pickett is playing an Arizona Cardinals team that is giving up the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. It is streaming season at quarterback if you need it, and Kenny Pickett is one of the best options available for week 13.
Week Thirteen Waiver Wire RBs
Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears (16% rostered)
Before the season started, if you were in our Discord, you heard me tell you that the Bears wanted Roschon Johnson to be their lead back. In week 12, we saw clear evidence of it with Johnson dominating the 15 touches for 75 all-purpose yards, making him the RB21 on the week. While not the most exciting stat line, this is the part of the season where volume is king. With D’Onta Foreman hurt and Khalil Herbert not looking fully healthy, Roschon Johnson is a running back with a large opportunity for touches. Add him if you need running back help.
Week Thirteen Waiver Wire WRs
Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers (41% rostered)
Over the last two weeks, Jayden Reed has been running as many routes as Romeo Doubs. His increase in usage has also translated to quality fantasy production. Over his last three weeks, Reed has scored double-digit fantasy points in half PPR and has been flex-worthy at the very least. Jayden Reed should be your number one waiver priority.
Jalin Hyatt, New York Giants (3% rostered)
It is time to talk about my baby boy, Jalin Hyatt. In week 12, Hyatt had 5 catches for 109 yards, making him the WR23 on the week. As glad as I was to Hyatt finally be used, he is number two on the Giants in routes run already on the season. Grab him in dynasty leagues. Fade in redraft.
Week Thirteen Waiver Wire TEs
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers (41% rostered)
Ryan Edgecomb of THfantaC was screaming that week 12 was a Pat Freiermuth week and for the bajillionth week in a row, the tight end whisperer was right. Last week, Freiermuth had 9 catches for 120 yards, making him the TE2 on the week. If you need tight-end help, and you probably do, Freiermuth might end up being a solid option for the rest of the season. He also might have just had a God-tier match-up. (He did)
