There’s only one week left in the fantasy regular season, so you should know the drill by now. Every week I find the guys who are sticking around on far too many rosters. And Waleed Ismail has you covered for who to add this week, but who should you move on from, and cast into perdition? I’m here to help with that part. To make this list, the cut candidates must be on at least 50% of rosters. I would also like to issue a reminder that these aren’t all recommended cuts, as that varies from roster to roster. These are just guys you might want to examine a little closer.
Quarterback Week 14 Cut Candidates
Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts (70% rostered)
Carson Wentz gave us a great game against the terrible Tampa Bay pass defense in week twelve, but that was the meat in a stinker sandwich, with him throwing up 10.04 fantasy points in week eleven, and 11.12 fantasy points in week thirteen as the running game and defense took over and backburnered Wentz. The bye looms large for Wentz, and he has matchups with New England (#31 QB matchup) and Arizona (#30 QB matchup) after that.
Wide Receiver Week 14 Cut Candidates
Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos (79% rostered)
The Chiefs dismantled the Broncos on Sunday Night Football, and because of that, Sutton finished with just 15 receiving yards on two catches. It’s his fourth week with just two catches in the five games since Jerry Jeudy returned, and he hasn’t topped 30 yards since week 9. If you want to hold on to see if he can right the ship against Denver, then go for it. Personally, I’m not sure how it happens for Sutton in the rest of the season without a Jeudy injury.
Calvin Ridley, Atlanta Falcons (74% rostered)
There’s been no update on Ridley since leaving the Falcons to better his mental health.
Antonio Brown, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (74% rostered)
Antonio Brown has been nursing an ankle injury since week six and is facing a three-game suspension for forging a COVID-19 vaccine card (which is a federal offense). The Bucs are also reportedly mulling over cutting AB84. Beat them to the punch and free up that roster spot.
Kenny Golladay, New York Giants (61% rostered)
Daniel Jones gave way to Mike Glennon due to injury, and it looks like Glennon will do the same for Jake Fromm. Golladay returned from an injury in week nine, and he has 127 yards in four games. The Giants are a complete dumpster fire this year, and Golladay is no exception.
Marvin Jones Jr, Jacksonville Jaguars (59% rostered)
His season peaked at seven catches, 100 yards, and one touchdown in week six. Since then, it’s been 33 yards per game (on 3.33 catches) with no touchdowns. Urban Meyer is destroying this team, and Trevor Lawrence isn’t doing anything to stop him.
Corey Davis, New York Jets (51% rostered)
Davis mustered just two catches for fifteen yards in week thirteen, but of more concern is the reason why he only had those two catches. He seems to have aggravated his groin injury, and will be out for the year.
Running Back Week 14 Cut Candidates
Kenyan Drake, Las Vegas Raiders (57% rostered)
Kenyan Drake suffered a broken ankle in week thirteen and will miss the remainder of the season.
Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers (53% rostered)
The Panthers placed Christian McCaffrey on season-ending IR.
Tight End Week 14 Cut Candidates
Noah Fant, Denver Broncos (80% rostered)
Fant has zero touchdowns and just one game over 39 yards since week six. The Broncos are spread too thin for their run-first offense to support any passing game targets outside of Jerry Jeudy.
